Good morning Peas, I have been wanting to buy a printer to print pictures at home. Hard decision between Canon selphy and epson pm 400. And now this popped up. Canon TS9521C All-In-One Wireless Crafting Photo Printer www.amazon.com/dp/B07G6BH2C7/ref=cm_sw_r_u_apa_i_IKiFFbW1M3WHDI need the peas help to decide which one I should buy. I'm a card maker mostly and just want to start making some tn style memory keeping. And looks like this will give me the chance to print my own paper and pictures too.

I need some clarity over the question to be the most helpful!
The title of the thread says Canon Pixma, your post says Canon Selphy. The Pixma and the Selphy aren't the same thing, and aren't fairly comparable.
The Selphy and the Epson PM are comparable, though.

I think azcrafty meant she was originally looking into the Selphy vs PM400 but now she's stumbled upon the Canon Pixma series. azcrafty It all depends which printer from the Pixma series you're considering. There is a variety of models and not all are meant for the same tasks, have the same functions or results for photo printing.

I have a different model Pixma, and they are good printers. We use it for all kinds of home and business purposes too, so we needed something that could handle letter sized paper as well as photo printing. I have considered splurging on a PictureMate that I can keep at my desk because I am lazy and tired and any extra steps in the process make me less likely to bother lately. But I am also cheap, and know that more things (machine, inks, apps, etc) just create more/new troubles.
I believe that Cathy Zielske shows a way to print full sized TN photos on the PictureMate, bigger than the 5x7 maximum print size, using cut down letter size paper.
If you were wanting to print TN papers and elements like the ones Geralyn Sy sells through In a Creative Bubble you'd probably be better off with the full sized printer (assuming you don't have a color inkjet printer at home already). If you just want to do photos quickly and easily I'd go with the PictureMate.
The Selphy is cool and I think a lot cheaper, but it can really only do (almost) 4x6 and smaller, and you're locked into using their special paper.

Any time I am making a bigger electronic purchase, I look at the features and do comparisons. Note which features you must have for what you are doing regarding print size, speed, connectivity, etc. Then I start at the bottom of the models and move up until I find one that meets all needs. If you are looking to print travel notebook size, you may not need that large of a format and can purchase a cheaper model.
I have a very old Pixma model (for about 10 years now) and it works fine. I prefer a full size format printer versus those smaller ones. I gifted my Mom a Selphy but she was always having connectivity issues and I don't think the print quality was really worth it.
My rear feed tray is getting a little testy, so I was looking at newer models, but keep reading not so great reviews on them. Not sure if they are just made cheaper or what.
I do like the Canon print app and even sometimes just send things from my laptop to my phone because its a little easier to print thru the app. Oh also, another thing to consider is Canon ink is expensive!

It makes much more sense now!

Thats ok! It’s much clearer now, and there’s a ton of great advice in this thread now too. I love my Pixma and mine is a cheap model. It prints a true 6x4, unlike the Selphy, and I can also print larger images, printable cards, journaling - anything that can be printed. I recommend buying good quality paper as that makes all the difference.

Amber Kemp-Gerstel (@damasklove on Instagram) has highly recommended the Crafting Printer that you linked.

I have an older Pixma - MP922 I think. It's a bit finicky for printing from my laptop. I'm hoping when I get a new laptop, I can print to it, it does print photos nicely. I'm assuming the issues are because it's an older model. It's huge and a bit slow. If I get another full size printer for photos, I would get another Canon based on the quality of the photos I get from the old Pixma.
I also have a selphy. I like it but it's limiting. It has weird border sizes which drives me nuts.

I have both the pm-400 and the pixma ts9521c. I prefer the color on the picture mate and the ease of it but also adore the pixma. I print a lot of digital papers and large photo prints on it. They are really beautiful. I think with either printer you can’t go wrong.
Don’t get the selphy. I had one and hated it.

My personal preference is Epson. I've never liked the Canon's I've had to fix in the past. Epson's aren't perfect, they can be ink hogs (especially if you don't use it regularly, the ink heads clog and the head cleaning uses a ton of ink) but if you use them regularly, they won't clog as much. Like justjac said, DamaskLove on instagram loves this Canon and sings its praises all the time. I'm almost curious enough to buy it and test it out but I don't need 2 printers.

Thank you everyone who answered.
I found the Canon Pixma TS9521C for $180 on HSN ,but while I was making my decision it sold out.
At least now I have an idea what I want and hopefully no new possibilities will pop up.

You might check Camel Camel Camel camelcamelcamel.com so you can watch the price once you've decided which printer you want. That's how I bought mine and it saved me around $50 or so. I ended up going with a wide format Canon and I've been pretty happy with it.

I don't have this Pixma but I did want to point out that it appears to be the same printer, different colour, as the TS9520 (in black). You may want to read up on the comments posted for both the TS9520 and TS9521C on Canon's website to get a better idea of what you're getting into with this printer. There is mention of not being able to print in draft quality mode, only high quality, for 12x12 and other little hiccups. Could be interesting to help you come to a final decision.
