First LP: Madonna’s Like a Virgin, given to me as a Christmas gift by a cousin I rarely saw. I’m not sure I ever listened to it as it wasn’t at all my thing at the time. The first one I chose myself was REO Speedwagon’s Hi Infidelity, which I still love! First 45: Air Supply - All Out of Love First Cassette: Foreigner - Records (their greatest hits) First CD: INXS I believe. Remember how CDs used to have those giant plastic things on them to prevent theft?
We don’t have a single CD or any other tangible media any more. Since everything is streaming now, the memory of their first music is not one my kids will have, which is a tiny bit sad. I’m loving seeing all the choices on this thread!

Well if we skip the Bozo under the sea LP from when I was 3,
If we don’t count my mothers huge Elvis collection of 45’s that she never listened to but I did.
Hall & Oates along the red ledge cassette tape. My sister got it for me because she was tired of me absconding with all her Billy Joel tapes.

My first LP was Bobbie Gentry and Glen Campbell released in 1968. I was only 8, though. As a 7yo I spent many an afternoon listening to one of mum's Glen Campbell records, singing 'Galveston' into my hairbrush (it was the only song that had the words to it, written on the back of the album cover). Mum and dad took me to see him in concert back in 1974, when I was 6 or 7, which was my first ever concert. I actually have Glen Campbell and Bobby Gentry singing 'All I Have To Do is Dream' on my iPod. My first 45 was Glen's "Rhinestone Cowboy." Vivid memories of that trip to the local record store. . .

I can’t say for sure that it was my first, but one of my earliest memories with my record player involves an Air Supply album. I feel like there was a hot air balloon on the cover?

45 - Gene Pitney 24 Hours from Tulsa I think. I’d gone to buy a Bee Gees single and they had sold out.
Album - something from Motown. It might have been The Supremes.
Cassette/CD not a clue.

Ok, showing my age here.... I think my first 45 was "Paper Roses" by Anita Bryant. My dad bought it at the grocery store ( ). We didn't know about her stand on social matters back then and he wouldn't have cared anyway. My first record album was likely "Ricky" by Ricky Nelson that I got from a friend of my parents for my 11th birthday. I was pretty old before I owned a cassette. 45's and albums were my generations source for tunes.

My first 45 was "Sugar Sugar" by the Archies. My second was "Joy to the World" by Three Dog Night. I had those, too. I still love Sugar, Sugar. My first records were 45s. I had all the typical teen girl records.

For myself, my first cassettes were the likes of Michael Jackson, Culture Club, Cindy Lauper. CDs were Whitney Houston, Debbie Gibson and Tiffany. These were when I had my own players in my bedroom.
I remember always listening to my parents 8tracks before that. Crystal Gale, Sylvia, The Beach Boys, the Mamas and the Papas. This stereo was in the living room.

My first record was Mickey Mouses Dance Party. I was 4. I had a Mickey record player in my bedroom. I thought I was hot shit. 😂🤦🏻♀️ My first tape was New Kids on the Block - Hangin Tough 1988. First CD was Red Hot Chili Peppers and Shakespeare’s Sister, 1992. Bought both CDs and a CD Boom Box with my hard earned babysitting money at Best Buy. Completely forgot about my Fisher Price record player. It was just those Disney books that had 45 records to go with them. I never bought a record album for myself. My parents and older brother had them though.

First 45 was "Love Will Keep Us Together" by The Captain and Tenille
First album was "Elton John's Greatest Hits"
Isn't it funny how we remember these things?

My first 45 was a real dud. It was a folk song called The Unicorn. I loved it at the time, but it didn’t stand the test of time.
My first album was the Carpenter’s Close to You.

My granddad bought me my first 45. It was Sneaky Snake by Tom T Hall. It might even still be in my baby book! My first album that I can remember was the Grease soundtrack. My first cassette that I bought on my own was probably Some Great Reward by Depeche Mode.

Our family got a record player for Christmas one year. I remember going to the record store and picking out the South Pacific album. This was a little record store where you could go into a soundproof booth and listen to records before you bought them. When I was stationed at Shepherd Air Force base back in 1969 I hauled that “portable” stereo there.
Thanks for triggering some memories long forgotten.

first 45s were the children's record/book sets in the early 70s - not sure what my first 'real' 45 was
first cassettes were Survivor Eye of the Tiger and Alan Parsons Project Eye in the Sky - early 80s (I think Christmas 1982)
First LP? I think Bonnie Tyler Faster than the Speed of Night
First CDs? Gosh whatever ones I got 8 for 1 cent from Columbia, I'm sure there was Billy Joel in there somewhere

My first 45 was so long ago that it had one of those little red plastic circles that popped into the hole in the 45 to convert it so I could play it on my parents record player which was in a big upright cabinet and only played 33rpm without the adapter.

I don't remember first 45, album, CD, cassette or 8-track because I'm that old. lol If I had to guess, it was probably something by David Cassidy but I don't remember.
