I don't remember my first records or CD's but the first cassette tape I had was by Kiss and my dad bought it for me. I didn't know who Kiss was and I doubt my dad did either as 99% of the time he listened to classical music with the occasional Olivia Newton John or Linda Ronstadt albums thrown in. I also don't remember listening to the Kiss tape after I received it. I would guess my dad realized HE didn't want to listen to it so the tape didn't last long in our house.
A couple years later I could often be found roller skating with the neighbor kids in our unfinished basement to K-Tel albums.

First 45: Led Zeppelin's “Black Dog”
First Album: An “As Seen On TV” compilation called 24 Happening Hits—awesome AM radio pop tunes including Tommy James and the Shondells “I Think We're Alone Now”, The Buckinghams “Kind of a Drag”, and The Young Rascals “Good Lovin'”.
First 8 Track: Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Green River”.
My first cassette and CD are lost in the mists of time.

I had 'Wings of Sound' and 'Starflight'!

It is hard for me to remember. My first cassette was Queen The Game. My first album was Shaun Cassidy. My first CD was either Alan Jackson or Martina McBride. My first 45 I think was Ring My Bell. My latest vinyl purchase was INXS Kick Anniversary collector's edition. My first concert was Rick Springfield in 1984.

Oh, I remember that my first 45 was something by The Monkees, though I don't know which songs were on it. I was probably 6 years old, and I had a small portable record player that opened and closed like a small suitcase. I loved their TV show After that, I really don't know.

I think it was either Donny Osmond or Elvis. It was a 45 and after a while I graduated to albums.

Donny Osmond Superstar. It was a double album and cost $6.99 at Kmart. I was 9 years old and oh, how I begged my parents to buy it for me, lol.

Still have it, too. ETA that ^^^ was the first I got (and bought) on my own. We had a few 45s and 78s but I think those were "share" records with my sister and brother. I can vividly see and hear the yellow "Flipper" record in my head, a 78 I believe.

My first album was The Best of Bread. My sister gave it to me when she was tired of it. 😁 My first 45 was The Bitch is Back by Alice Cooper. I liked to play it down in my room when I was mad at my mom.

The first album I remember receiving was Association's Greatest Hits for my birthday along with a GE stereo, the kind the turntable pulled down in between the speakers. I know we had kiddie albums though. The first cassette I can recall was Carole King Tapestry and soon after a KTEL album with Loving Spoonful on it. I can recall a couple of occasions when those were playing. I had 8 tracks in my first car and I know Dan Fogelburg Souvenir had top play along with The Eagles On the Border and the mix 8 tracks we used to make. I kept most of my albums and DH's too. I just could not part with them when we got rid of our stereo. I made a headboard with about 20 of them and when we moved I bought a record player and have been playing them since.

My first album was the Partridge Family lol I have Partridge Family album - Pretty sure my first 45 was Partridge Family/David Cassidy. My first 2 albums bought at the same time were Rod Stewart and David Bowie. Can’t remember my first 8 track or cassette but they were probably country. My music tastes just jump around.

The first record I owned was James Brown. My uncle gave it to me. He had one of those huge record 1970's console record players and the best collection of vinyl of anyone I've ever known.
The first music I bought on my own was U2's Joshua Tree on cassette. I was in 4th grade, I think. (I was 10.)

Besides kid's albums (I wore out my Disney's, "It's a Small World" "Disco Duck" and the Chipmunk's records), I believe my first "real" music:
Album: Crystal Gayle (not sure which one), but I also remember getting Dolly Parton's 9-5 and Oak Ridge Boys, Elvira, around the same time (I was about eight or nine).
Single: Band Aid: Do they Know its Christmas Time ( I was eleven?)
Cassette: Billy Joel's Uptown Girl (around ten or so?) I think this was the first I bought with my own money.
CD: I am not completely sure, but I think it may have been Pearl Jam or Soundgarden (around 19/20 years old)
I don't remember my first Mp3 downloaded, but it was from Napster. LOL

First album was probably the Brady Bunch album. And if you played it today, I bet I could sing every song.

My first single was Abba's Chiquitita.
My first CD was the Kate Bush one with Wuthering Heights on it - before I owned a CD player. Yeah, I know.

my first non kiddie record that I bought with my own money was Don't Go Breakin My Heart by Elton John 45
first album was Elton John's Rock of the Westies because this Greatest Hits album was sold out when I went to buy it and so I settled for ROTW. Which was okay I thought cause I liked Island Girl but I had no idea who Robert Ford was and some of the other songs on it were just weird. But I played it because it was all I had and I blew all my allowance on it. I'm bitter. LOL.
