Can we talk about stamp and die storage for a moment? I'm hoping we can share our tips. I store my stamps in Avery Elle pockets. I store my small dies in Memorex CD pockets and my larger dies in Avery Elle pockets. I had my dies in one of the large divided refrigerator bins but it was just way too heavy with both sides filled with metal dies. I decided to find some 6" wide bins, separate them in to multiple containers, and cut down on the weight. I found these on Amazon: Smart Design Stackable Refrigerator Bin - (6 x 12 Inch) - w/Handle - BPA Free Polyethylene - for Fridge, Freezer, Pantry Organization - Kitchen [Clear] - Set of 4The dimensions say: 12.25 x 6.15 x 3.5 inches (L x W x H). Perfect! Then I read the questions. Someone asked if 6" paper would fit and the answer is "No, the inside measures 5 7/8 so its not wide enough for 6" paper". I measure my stamp pocket and they will fit. I get the containers and my stamp pockets DO NOT fit! I measure the bottom and the container is just a hair smaller than 5 1/2". It's barely noticeable but the bins are tapered. Don't get me wrong the bins are great for the CD pockets but just don't work for the stamp pockets. I should mention I have the Ikea Kallax shelves so I'm limited to about 13" wide which is why I wanted multiple 6" wide containers. So I'm curious, if you use Avery Elle pockets, what containers do you use? Do you have a source for true 6" wide containers?

I use x-narrow drawers from Elfa at the Container Store. http://instagram.com/p/BnZK7fpHU0A I've learned that the fridge bins that fit in the Kallax become quite heavy when they get full and as a result, I wasn't reaching for any of the stamps in the back...plus the feet like to hook behind the unit which often made it difficult to remove them from the Kallax if I did want to dig through to the back of the unit. I really like the drawer system...I just wish I had the space to grow into a 2nd unit because I'm quickly surpassing what I can fit in the one, but I am making it work. I use different pockets for my 3x4 and a combination of bins that I've gotten from the back to college section at Joann's years ago, Tjena bins that have been discontinued from Ikea and a fridge bin I found at Home Goods (but is still sold elsewhere) because they fit those sleeves well. The sleeves themselves are from a shop called Bags Unlimited and while they're customer service was absolute crap, their large postcard sleeves are great for smaller stamps. I never much cared for doubling up on my 3x4's or quadrupling up on my 2x3 or 1x6 stamps, so the smaller pockets do the trick for me.

Hi pinklady ! I have a few possible options for you although none are perfect. I've struggled with some of the same dilemmas you have...someone really needs to make custom stamp storage for the Kallax/Expedit. Here's a link to some Google photos I just took to show how these options fit in a Kallax cube. First option: 6x6x6 Interdesign containersThese fit the large (i.e., sized for 4x6 stamps) Avery Elle stamp pockets beautifully. There isn't really any extra room on the sides, but the pockets can move, they aren't constrained. You could basically fit four of these in one Kallax cube: two deep, two wide. (I bought mine years ago, they're currently showing as unavaible on Amazon but they might be for sale somewhere else.) Second option: lidded plastic containers 7 inch and 9 inchThese will also fit the large AE pockets. They come in multiple heights, I use them for storing my 6x6 and 6x8 paper pads, but they could easily fit AE pockets. The 7" version is too short for the large AE pockets but the 9" version will fit them. The only downside about these is that they're just slightly too wide to store them side by side in a cube, so I had to store them with one behind another. (Also, if you search mDesign on Amazon, they have a huge variety of bins with and without lids, so you could possibly find another option you like better. I live in an area with a lot of dust, so I prefer containers with lids, but you could probably also remove the lids off any box to make it compatible with taller items.) Third option: fabric file boxOn the off chance you're not talking about the large 4x6 pockets and are talking about the XL pockets (for 6x8 stamps), I recently found this option. I use the XL pockets to store my scraps and this container fits those pockets beautifully. It will fit in a Kallax cube but there's no way you could get two across. I hope that helps you, even if none of these end up being what you're looking for. If you would like additional pictures of any items, I'd be happy to oblige!

I don't have s 6x6 pad handy, but The Container Store womens shoe box are only slightly tapered and they will fit a box a smidgen under 6 1/8". So if true 6x6 they will fit. If you need me to check, I will check after work. They are relatively cheap but definitely not as tall as the Fridge Binz. I can't link but if you search for "our shoe box" it comes up at $2.19.
ETA: The 4x6 stamp Avery pockets fit with room to spare.

Here is an old Instagram post where you can see the wire baskets I bought from the Container Store - a standard medium and a deep medium will stack one on top of the other in a Kallax. The Avery Elle pockets fit sideways. (The first couple of cubes on the second row have stamp/die sets) For me it's all about maximizing space and this works. SetupBaskets

Mine is a double wide fridge bin and it holds two rows of Avery Elle pockets. Also, Target had some $3 opaque bins that fit my stamp sets well too. They were in the bathroom section.

I use these bins from Amazon. They have enough room for the Large Avery Elle storage pockets as well as the Extra Large. My stamps are in the bin on the next shelf, and I am able to double them up by facing them toward the long side.

This may or may not work for you, but I have 3 large metal slotted containers. I jeep them on the bottom shelf of my kallax. I then use the 8 1/2 x11 lawn Fawn magnetic sheets and put them inside a 8 1/2 x11 plastic job ticket holder. The first bin is all my interactive dies and slimline stored alphabetically with labels (ie all slimline together, all parts for magic picture changer together, etc, the second basket is all shaped dies and sentiments, again all rectangles on same sheet, all circles, all xmas sentiments, all Birthday, etc, 3rd is all the other dies stored alphabetically for instance, all beach, all sliders, all xmas, on the same sheet(s) stored alphabetically. I then get up grab the 81/2 x11 magnetic sheets I need and bring them to the table. I keep them very close. I can get some without even getting up. Not quite what you asked but another solution.

Two magnetic vent covers fit side by side in a 12x12 page protector. I'm in the process of storing all my metal dies that way in a binder. I don't have a great way for storing stamps. Most are in sandwich bags with cardstock behind them and stored in a large metal tub this size; 9.25"x9.75"x16. Some of the really long stamp sets are in gallon sized bags.

I use these white cardboard labeled boxes from IKEA, but unfortunately, they don't sell them anymore. They are kind of like a shoe/photo box thing that Michael's sells, but more narrow. I take the lid off and tuck it underneath.

I’ve been looking for a better way to store my dies and some of these might work for me. Right now they’re in a tall square decorative box but I’d prefer something clear.
