I don't know about turkeys, but anyone know why Kroger had the large Dixie paper plates labeled at 14.99? Even Chinet isn't that expensive. A few months ago I was ordering my curbside grocery order from Fred Meyer (Kroger everywhere else) and I needed onion soup mix which is usually $1.00 a box, and online it was $10.00. I didn't get any, and they have since fixed it... there was something else at the same time with a ridiculous price but I can't remember what it was.

Since it is just us this year, we are going to do brisket instead of turkey. LOL. We already have one (ordered 1/4 cow and it is happily sitting in our freezer) and sides will be easy to do. My Texas born and bred DH is thrilled.

Inspection is hopefully next week with a tentative closing shortly before Christmas That is wonderful news! Is it closer to town? Will you now have a real stove & oven? Thank you - it's a bit closer to town and in an actual neighbourhood. And yes - it has a working stove/oven

Aldi's had them for 1.19/lb this week I think it was. I need to eat down the freezer a bit before I buy one though. We always get a bigger one because we like leftovers I'd buy one now if I had room in the freezer. We will get a bigger one, as well, since we like the leftovers for other things.

We have been having a hard time getting the paper plates DH likes to use for raw meat and finally had to find another brand...which is now occasionally getting hard to find. My best guess is a lot more people eating a lot more meals at home and they’re sick of dishes

He laughed and said the turkeys are normal and will go on sale as usual (on the 5th, here). Good to know - thanks!

elaine - I look at it differently. I think you'll find you'll get sales because, like here, there will be too much supply & not enough demand. If people can't have big gatherings like they normally would, there's no reason to purchase a 10+ lb turkey. We did a turkey breast for Canadian Thanksgiving because we had half as many people as usual.

Our store (HEB) has stocked tons of sizes of Butterball Turkeys on sale @ $1.01/lb, and some natural higher quality store brand @1.51/lb plus a coupon. Limit of 2 per person.

Yay for the Butterballs at just a couple of pennies above normal! I hope that they show up in my neck of the woods soon. I started buying my supplies yesterday for my corn soufflé, cranberry salad and pumpkin pie. Now I need to get stuff for sweet potato soufflé, and green bean casserole. I can’t wait to get a turkey into my freezer.

At HEB the current deal is buy a spiral sliced ham or a whole ham and get up to a 12-pound turkey free. I don't need a ham so passing on that one although the app says just turkeys are on sale too but I don't see them in the sale ad. I do curbside or delivery now and sometimes it's a little vague. I miss going in the store and picking out my own. The size range on the app are 8-12 pounds, 12-16, 16-20 and 20-24. We're a small gathering this year but I'm sure I will get one in the 12 to 16 range. I like leftovers.

I’m not a fan but mom and DH are. elaine, I forgot to mention that the $1.01 is a sale price. So perhaps prices have gone up.

The other 2 go in the freezer.

We are supporting a local farm by ordering a 15-16 lb pasture raised fresh turkey for $5.29 a lb. It’s fine, ridiculous but fine.
We ordered a bunch of spices from Penzies and will start getting the pantry items this week.

We bought our Honeysuckle turkey yesterday at $1.19/lb. We only bought one 14 lb one, since we will not be having our huge extended family Tday blowout this year. But we also bought a lovely spiral honey ham, since DH cannot go without. Usually we purchase a 23-25 pounder, and extra turkey breast to smoke, so Thanksgiving will look very different this year. Kind of sad about it too.

They are on sale this week at Winn Dixie/BiLo stores. Now, if they are in the stores is another question. I am stopping after work today to get one. I'm trying dreaded Wal Mart for a Butterball and if they don't have one I'm heading to WD.
