How were/are things?
DH and I just got home. We left the house at 8:30 and were back by 9am. Our polling place was extremely efficient and it didn't take any longer than a usual election year, despite there being 3 lines instead of one. I made sure to thank all of the people who volunteered to work a 14 hour day today - they are true American heroes this year. It was heartening to see so many people out to make their voices heard - more than I've ever seen in any election in my 20 years of voting in this district.

My DD did in AL. About a 30 minute wait. I am about to get dressed and head out here. Small town and don't expect issues.

Yay for everyone on this thread!!! 🥰
Dh, ds and I voted in-person at the end of September. We voted in-person, not because it is a better way to vote, but because we are afraid of the GOP trying to invalidate mail-in ballots.

Yes, I did. Only took about 35ish minutes. They were very efficient. For the first time ever I saw a poll watcher for the gop. He was hovering over the two checking licenses against signatures. He looked like a mafiosa thug with his suit and smug face.

I just got home from voting. There are three precincts in my school and all three were busier than usual. My wait was about half hour.

I'll be going just as soon as I get off work this afternoon. I really wish I could have went before work but I had to be here at 6am and my polling place didn't open until 7am.

That is exactly why we waited until today to vote (my state doesn't allow early voting - absentee only). jeremysgirl, You are too cute - your smile is just infectious!

I did. From start to finish it took me 9 minutes. Sometimes living in a small town of 800 people has its benefits.

Honestly I feel really good about this election. I really feel like this is a battle of good vs evil and good always wins. I am optimistic as of right now.

My oldest voted for the first time today! He said he had about a 30 minute wait. He mentioned that an aunt who lives near us was in line as well.

There was no line at 8:15 this morning and I was in an out in 15 minutes. I was not going to risk an absentee ballot or any other kind of mail in ballot and I was not looking into voting early because the lines were way too long and there was no social distancing

The only reason there was a wait at my polling place is because their iPads weren’t working. Apparently standing in an alphabetical line and the poll worker verifying my name on paper put the younger workers over the edge. The senior citizens knew exactly what to do without iPads. I walked around the park after and when I passed it on my way home. No line at all.
My dd early voted on the weekend. Apparently the people in line waiting expected to be given free food and drinks and were complaining to the poll workers keeping the line moving.

we did - they were social distancing inside so we had to wait a minute for people to exit before we were let in but otherwise no lines. Over 50% turnout via early and absentee voting here so lots of people have already voted. As of 11am, we had 66% turnout which is awesome

Most in my family voted weeks ago but one of my kids wasn’t going to vote but I’m happy she changed her mind and went this morning. Only 2 people in front of her waiting for open machines so she was in and out in about 15 minutes. She was annoyed a few people weren’t wearing masks and no hand sanitizer. She got her sticker though.

My office building shares space with a polling place. I've enjoyed the morning watching the voters come and go out my window.
I admit that I made extra sure that our doors are secured after I arrived. You just never know.
There are a couple of scouts taking advantage of the crowd by setting up a table selling popcorn in the parking lot.

I've gone up there twice so far to see if the line was down at all. I'm working from home, so I can duck out for a bit. I'm very rural, and even still, the lines are CRAZY - out the door, snaked all through parking lots, down a huge winding driveway and out onto the highway. I'm going to go back again in another 2 hours and pray it's less. That kind of a line is a solid 2 hours or more. But I WILL get my vote in!!!! Our lives depend on it.

Me, me, me! . Got there at 6:40, once they opened the doors, we were in and out within about 10-15 mins. Everyone was wearing masks, friendly, and respectful.

I'm due for new ones in January so I've been scoping out everyone's glasses trying to figure out which ones I want. And yours are at the top of my list currently!!

Smooth - in and out.

My DS did! All the rest of us in the family voted early or by mail. I walked up to his precinct and let him know there was no line I could see outside. Voting has been calm and easy in our county.
I voted by mail over a month ago and today I am dearly missing voting in person as well as working as an election officer. I usually vote early as I don’t work in my precinct on election days. Covid alone was the sole reason for my voting/working decisions this fall. I did work the VA primary in March 😊.
Safety and short lines for all!

I did. Waited 1 1/2 hours to vote. The biggest problem was that the county council consolidated voting centers here and there were only four machines at my polling place. Our county council is worthless and created a huge mess by doing that. Due to their failure to vote on measures to create more voting centers, they have created confusion and have cost the county thousands of dollars. I voted for their opponents!
