Thank you! That was even better than the one on a wish list I'm shopping for, as well as cheaper.

I'm still iffy and haven't purchased one for myself yet.
I don't like to cook. Will it make me love to cook?

I'm still iffy and haven't purchased one for myself yet. I don't like to cook. Will it make me love to cook? If you don’t like to cook, the Instant Pot won’t probably change that. ☹️ It will make cooking really good food easier and in some cases faster. Even though there is still prep work - chopping things, browning them, etc. - once you get all the ingredients in there, it is truly a set it and forget it until the cooking time is up. No babying things on the stovetop. And at some things like hard boiled eggs and rice, not to mention cheesecake, it is foolproof. I love mine so much that I have 3 in different sizes - I have the 8qt version of the air fryer pressure cooker linked above, a regular 6 quart version, and added the 3 quart one for rice cooking on Amazon Prime day. That said, if you don’t like cooking and don’t think that you are up to learning a new appliance - because it does have a learning curve - then you may very well not use it and it wouldn’t be a good buy. If you do buy one, there are plenty of us who do use them and can help. There is even a recipe thread on the recipe board!

So do I need both? Which is more versatile? If you had to choose only one, which would you prefer?

I've kept my Instant Pot -- I use it infrequently, but it is effective when I do use it. There really isn't a substitute, IMHO, for a pressure cooker --WHEN you want a pressure cooker. My only complaint is that everything seems to be pretty much a "stew" sort of meal -- meal submerged in some sort of sauce. I tried making a cheese cake and wasn't impressed -- I served it to my friends with a total explanation of what and why! On the other hand, I've returned the "air fryer" -- while the battered fish was good, and the tater tots acceptable - it did NOT roast a chicken, nor did it bake effectively. Frankly, it didn't do anything that I can't get done in the oven - altho' I admit, that the oven takes a bit longer. Having that huge appliance on my counter just wasn't working aesthetically for me either!

I already have a: crock pot rice cooker air fryer
And I use all three. Would it be worth it to get an instant pot, too? I've never pressure cooked anything before.

So do I need both? Which is more versatile? If you had to choose only one, which would you prefer? I’m sorry it took so long to get back to this thread - I have been out all day. If you had to choose just one, it would depend on whether or not you’ll make yogurt in it. The one with the air fryer lid doesn’t have a yogurt cycle. That said, I love my one with the air fryer lid. I do roast chickens in mine and love how they turn out. You pressure cook the whole chicken first, then switch the lids and roast the skin, so it is tender and juicy on the inside and crisp on the outside without being dry.

After getting hang of my pressure cookers, I got rid of my crock pot and my rice cooker. While I love roasting chickens in the instant pot with the air fryer lid, it doesn’t really replace my air fryer for things like fries. So, you might decide it is a worthwhile purchase, or you might not. It really would depend on you and your cooking styles and preferences.

Sometimes I really hate Black Friday. I waited a year before finally buying my Instant Pot this summer. I waited for a good sale, I did my research. I finally bought it and had plans to buy the air fryer lid separately when the budget allows. Now this sale is here and I could have gotten the whole thing for the price of just the air fryer lid.

If you are planning on buying a lid for the same price, you should go ahead and buy the above IP rather than just the lid, because you control the air fryer lid from the Instant Pot itself and run the programs from the IP front panel. If you buy the lid separately, you are pressing separate buttons on the lid, rather than the front panel.
