"An Associated Press analysis reveals that in 376 counties with the highest number of new cases per capita, the overwhelming majority — 93% of those counties — went for Trump, a rate above other less severely hit areas. Most were rural areas in Montana, the Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa and Wisconsin."
I don't understand it. We could have done so much better with the virus, saving so many lives. We don't have many tools right now, but if we actually used them, it would make a big difference. Instead, politicians are fighting the doctors and scientists who are trying to save lives. I'm feeling so sad about everything right now.
I just found out about half an hour ago that my best friend's mom isn't expected to make it through the night from Covid. She is such an incredibly nice lady. I've known her for more than 30 years.

That it's no big deal, everything is all blown out of proportion. They don't mask, they don't social distance.

I’m really sorry about your friend’s mom.
It’s hard to comprehend the loss of so many lives, and even harder to comprehend that so many people think the losses are acceptable.

Thank you.
I just don't get why people would believe a politician rather than doctors and scientists who have spent their entire lives working to prevent this kind of thing.
I guess, as my husband says, 50% of the population has an IQ of less than 100.

It's horrible. The whole thing is horrible.
And 68 million people voted for it to continue.

Just think how things might look if Trump hadn’t been (and remains) so dismissive.

Hey ND even voted for and elected to the state house a man who had died of the virus in October. Having an R behind your name is all most people care about here.

I'm so sorry about your friend's mum.
As to the statistic - yeah, my county voted 72% for Trump this year, up from 70% in 2016. Our covid cases are at 6261/100k people and rising - and almost no one is masked or social distancing

I sorry about your best friend's mom. It's heartbreaking! I am really worried how bad it's going to get when all the covid infection from these rallies last week start showing up.

As an Aussie looking at the USA from the sidelines- the thing that worries me most about the man with the big red button is that he doesn’t listen to his specialist advisors. He always thinks he knows better so he can remain popular with his supporters. From where I’m standing that looks VERY dangerous

I'm so sorry, that's heartbreaking.
If tRump had put forth the same effort into fighting Covid as he did with this election, we'd be in such a different place.

Darwinism at work? Time might tell.
ETA. I am DEEPLY sorry to hear about your friends mom. Truly I am.
I was recently told by an acquaintance that her grandfather is not expected to live for more than 5 days due to contracting Covid while also having lung cancer. I am heartbroken for her. She cannot see him because of the positive Covid situation. My very longtime dear friend passed away suddenly (though not fully unexpectedly) last night. His wife had invited me to the family viewing for him (vs the larger extended family/friends viewing later in the day).i was iffy on attending. I LOVE this man, and his family deeply. Our families are so intertwined. I disclosed our positive cases from work and my exposure, and was promptly disinvited from the viewing. I do not blame them, I fully understand, which is why I presented all the facts. But it stings to not have my chance to say goodbye right now. 😭
Fuck Covid and all the assholes who don’t think this is a big deal or something to be worried about.

I know we are luckier because it hit us first and our State acted fast, but there are still so many people not caring, even here. OP- I'm sorry for your friends mom.

Luckily, I am retired from state employment so I am not forced to be in the workforce right now in North Dakota. I stay home and wear a mask if I have to go out. But, some people are angry when asked to wear a mask--The whole situation is sad.

I too am so very disappointed about the handling of this pandemic by our government. It's disgraceful that we are in this position. It's heartbreaking how many people don't believe in science and are not interested in learning either. I am so sorry maryannscraps and pierkiss.

I guess, as my husband says, 50% of the population has an IQ of less than 100. I've been feeling the same way you are. This election has saddened me greatly to realize just how many people in this country are willing to support his uneducated ramblings and rants over the information of highly respected scientists and doctors. It's mind boggling to me. And i'm so tired of my (adult) kids who have to work in public telling me about all those not following the mask order. We have a very strict mask order....yet one of mine was telling me i'd be amazed at what he sees all day. It's so disheartening to see how little people care about each other. I'm sorry about your friends mom ((HUGS))

No one should have to deal with this.

Thank you all so much. I was overwhelmed last night. I'm feeling more hopeful this morning, as my daughter called early to tell me that Georgia had flipped to Biden.
And I'm so sorry for everyone else who has lost a loved one to this awful virus.

The thing with cults is that people will knowingly hurt themselves if the cult leader tells them it's necessary.
I'm very sorry about your friend's mom.

I think about this every day and it makes me very, very sad. And what makes me even sadder is that the losses are going to increase because of the holidays and the lack of a mask mandate. It did not have to be this way and I mourn those who have passed.
