We knew it was coming and yet it makes me incredibly sad. I learned so so much from him/Jeopardy throughout the years. He will be missed! Couldn’t agree more. So sad. He will be terribly missed. 😢

I'm sorry MDscrapaholic if this stirs up painful memories for you. Thank you. It was ten years ago this month we learned that DH probably wasn’t going to make it. He fought for 17 months. Alex Trebek fought for 20 months. I’m sure every one of those days were lived to the fullest with his family. We truly need to find a cure for this terrible disease.

Very few celebrity deaths make me cry, I think the last one was Peter Jennings, but this one did. He will be greatly missed. I have watched his Jeopardy since the 3rd season, always with my mom. When my own Alex was young, we would go over for dinner every Thursday and watch Jeopardy afterwards. He always got a kick when the name Alex was announced. Between my mom and I, we knew/know a lot. I will hoard the last few episodes I have not seen yet. Grace and style and intelligence, that is Alex Trebek.

Whenever my Dad and I were in the same house we watched and played along, rating categories with our own unique sounds based on our anticipated knowledge level. Sad day for Jeopardy fans!

OK, now this is doubly sad. I went with my parents to New York when I was 14 and we went to a taping of Jeopardy. It was exciting and fun. The host at that time was a guy named Art Fleming. He later died in 1995 of pancreatic cancer. I had no idea that Art Fleming died of pancreatic cancer too.

I'm glad he was able to be active and normal almost to the end.
He will be missed. It won't be the same w/o him, but I hope it goes on.

I feel like Alex was family. So many tears for him, his family, and his Jeopardy family.

Jeopardy was a staple in our house growing up, with the whole family trying to beat one other to the answer (or the question I should say!). My mother, who is part Ukrainian, would always swoon at Alex Trebek and call him "that handsome Ukrainian". Intelligence and class is sexy. RIP dear man.

Today is my mom’s 75th birthday so I hope she doesn’t see this online or on the news.
Mom adores Alex and she’s had in her prayers like he’s her favorite cousin since she found out about his diagnosis. She has watched every episode this season, searching to see if he looks well.
She is really going to be upset when she finds out he passed. Me, Ijust sat down and bawled. How can you not love a man who says his only regret is he and wife didn’t meet earlier so they could have had more time together?

He said this to me so many times. And an hour before he died he told me that he hoped he hadn’t disappointed me. 😢

My mother also died of pancreatic cancer. From diagnosis to her death was two weeks exactly. And she absolutely did not have cancer two months prior for sure because she had a scan for another reason. When pancreatic cancer is ready to get you, it goes quickly. I loved Alex Trebek. I am very sad about his passing.

Heartbroken. I knew it was coming, but thought since he was still filming, ( he actually only stopped one and s as half weeks ago) I thought there was still time.

This is such sad news today. I love Jeopardy and have been watching it for years. I started watching it when my 5th grade teacher would have us all go down to the cafeteria, get our lunch trays and carry them back up to the classroom. She'd let us eat lunch there and watch Jeopardy. This was back in 1969 or 1970. I don't remember who the host was then.
I've been watching throughout my life and have loved Alex Trebek as the host. He added so much to the show with his humor, his warmth and his ability to reach the contestants and get them to calm down and have fun. I don't think I can continue to watch Jeopardy without him. I think I'll be watching a lot of the old shows for the foreseeable future. May he rest in peace. He will be very missed.
