We need a 9 foot tree, slim, realistic looking... the new balsam hill type branches.
On the fence about prelit vs. unlit.
Whatcha got? Any suggestions?

Since we will be spending the winter confined to our own home, I splurged and bought a new tree from Balsam Hill. I am in love 🥰. It is already up in our foyer and even undecorated makes me smile. We got a prelit with candlelight LED’s since I have always preferred white lights. I forget what they call it but all you do is put the sections together and the lights connect via the center pole- no plugs and wires to find and connect. So easy. I got it on a decent sale considering the time of year and even got a price adjustment when they ran an even better the sale the following week. It shipped quick, everything was well labeled for the first assembly, and the even came with gloves to wear when you fluff the branches 🤗. Zero regrets about that purchase, so far it totally lives up to the hype.

Pre lit. My little trick, is to lightly wrap a 100 light string of lights up the middle of the tree. Lights it up on the inside. Makes a huge difference. 🎄

I have always wanted one and we decided to splurge on it this year after our previous tree gave up the ghost last year. I cannot wait for it to come in!

We got a Balsam Hill tree this year, it was on sale with free delivery and arrived in 2 days! It’s pre-lit and so easy to put together. Right now we light it every evening and will put ornaments on it right after Thanksgiving. We’re very happy with this!

We had a massive tree for the two story living room in our old house. I secretly hated it but we spent so much money on it. It was really full and a solid triangle shape. Our ornaments never hung well. They always sort of laid on their sides. I couldn’t wait to get rid of it.
I wanted a sparse tree. I love how they look and the longer ornaments have space to actually hang. We got a 7 ft prelit sparse tree from Wayfair (or Overstock, I can’t remember which) this year and I can’t wait to put it up. It was about $250.

idk what balsam hill branches are, though. Mine kind of open up like an umbrella. I love it! I forget what they call it but all you do is put the sections together and the lights connect via the center pole- no plugs and wires to find and connect. So easy. This works SO well and not that big gob of cords~! Mine has the little fairy lights on the fine wire. I just leave mine on 24/7. I got an Alpine Fir. It is SO pretty. Even undecorated it is lovely. I am loving the lighter airy look of it. I have vintage style silver mercury glass ornaments of different shapes and sizes and they just work perfect on this tree.

Thank you for the recommendations.
For me Balsam Hill branches means that they are molded to look like a real tree and are not the plasticy flat needles.

We just purchased a new tree. It’s pre-lit with LED lights. The lights have 9 different settings including colored lights or warm white lights. It’s kind of nice to have options with the lights. The best part is that it took 10 minutes to set up the tree. It always took me about 3 hours just to set up the tree & put on the lights. Putting the ornaments on the tree will take another hour or 2, but that’s the fun part!

I would be ordering from here- we have the Northern Lights Tree but will be adding a 'normal' tree when our other prelit dies. I love that they have a lifetime warranty on everything they sell and their trees are stunning. Hammacher Schlemmer Trees

DH has decided that he’s done with expensive real trees that make a mess. DD said she doesn’t care as long as she has something to hang ornaments on so I’ve been outvoted. I’m kind of sad because I love a real tree, but I definitely get it from a financial perspective. I’m going to have to spend a small fortune on Thymes Frasier Fir hand soap and candles to get that Christmas tree smell in my house for the holidays.

We got a BH prelit tree last year, and it was beautiful. We’ll be putting it up again this weekend, and it will be worth every penny of all the branches light up.
We have never had a prelit tree that has everything still working the following year, no matter how carefully disassembled and stored.

I grew up with live trees and was a bit crushed when I developed asthma and it was suggested that I should switch to artificial tree. But I do prefer the ease of it and definitely recommend prelit! The way that I still manage to get my "living tree" fix -- I go to the local tree lot and they always are very willing to give me their scrap limbs and I create a wreath for the front door. Then the mess is outside but I get the scent whenever I come and go from the house.

I usually gussy it up a little with homemade bows so it doesn’t look so generic. The place we normally go to get our tree is a little mom and pop tree farm. They make their own wreaths out of the cuttings so I would feel bad going there, not buying a tree and then asking them for free branches and not even buying a wreath.
