I heard this story on the radio this morning (the radio station in the link). I have only been able to find the story on a couple of other sites, and they probably have just gotten the story from the radio station. Children produced antibodies without testing positiveThe report said that studying this case, and working out how the kids produced the antibodies, may help with a vaccine. (Or should I say, another vaccine, seeing that we already have a few others on the horizon.) And no, I have no idea why one of the kids was sleeping in the same bed as the infected parents. Unless the parents didn't know at that time that they had COVID?

It could be the level of the test at the time, detecting viral particles. I'd surmise that the level of the kids' viral particles was low by the PCR test, which could give a negative result, whereas the adults had a higher level of virus which gave a positive test. Think of it as a bell-shaped curve. Kids were on the low end of curve and parents on high-end. The kids were able to produce antibodies at a lower viral load to fight off the virus, whereas, parents may not. Will be interesting to see what those specific antibodies are in the children. But, the phrase "We did find that they had an immune response similar to their parents suggesting they’re getting protection from the virus" could just mean a total analysis of IgG antibodies and not specific to Covid neutralizing antibodies. It's somewhat unclear of what the actual tests were. I think it's an extrapolation to say specific antibodies in children's mouths. I would need more data to interpret the findings. TFS....

They have had a couple of kids in NY that never tested positive for covid but had the multi-system inflammatory syndrome related to covid related syndrome. It’s difficult to study because it pretty rare.

Sadly, I foresee it being used as an excuse for anti-vaxxers not to get their kids vaccinated.

That is interesting... I’ve also read studies showing children carry much higher viral loads (I think it was 100x higher than average viral load of an adult) in their nasal passages.

It doesn’t surprise me that some people may never get it even if exposed. I’ve been exposed to strep many times over yet I’ve never had it. It’s certainly something scientists should research but I can believe it.
