Smallish update 11/24-- I went and got tested this morning after I couldn't taste or smell my coffee. Was closer up in the line, but took longer because there were so many cars with 2 and 3 people getting tested. I did ask the sweet nurse to please not scrape away the brain cells that contain my knowledge of Algebra because I am supposed to use that someday.
DH was told he should get results today but still nothing. He has been stacking the acetaminophen and ibuprofen so his fever is finally down. Mine is hovering at 99.3 despite the meds. Both of us are drinking as much water as we can and sowm juice to get some vitamin C.
Neither one of us has any interest in food, but I had to eat something so that I could take my evening meds and I swear the bagel I ate could have been insulation or a flip flop for all I could taste.
OH, and just to clarify why DH went into work. He is the warehouse manager for a company that ships PPE and has worked all through the pandemic, he really can't do the vast majority of his job remotely. He went into the office to get his tablet and to copy some files so that he can at least answer questions and emails and try to do what he can from home.
So he went in at 5:30 am before anyone got there, geared up in PPE (gloves and mask) and got what he needed and when the nurse got there after 6 he sent her a message and she geared up and took his temp and sent him to get tested. His office will be deep cleaned while he is gone.
So now we are just in a holding pattern waiting for test results. DD is staying at school for the foreseeable future. Tomorrow I will be having food delivered to each of the kids so they will have something other than ramen or pizza for Thanksgiving.
Thank you for all of the positive thoughts and good advice. I always appreciate the power of the Peas.
OP--
We are pretty sure his Covid test is going to come back positive this time.
He was exposed at work back in July and had body aches, sinus issues, and diarrhea (TMI) but his test was negative. And despite me being incredibly cautious and going out as little as possible I was exposed and had to be tested a little over a month ago. Thankfully it was negative.
On Wednesday/Thursday we had one of those weather whiplash things where it was 80 degrees then dropped to 40 and that usually causes sinus issues. DH was congested. I took my Dad (age 93) to his eye doctor appointment on Thursday and didn't start feeling congested until later in the afternoon.
He got up Friday and was so congested and felt bad that he called in sick. No temp, just felt like a man cold. Same on Saturday, still incredibly congested and achy, I had sore throat, temp went to 99 then down again.
On Sunday morning (yesterday) DH lost his sense of smell (ut oh!) and just felt like hell. I just kept battling sneezing and runny nose.
This morning he went to office to get the critical stuff done and the nurse took his temp (101) and sent him to get tested. He told me he couldn't taste coffee, just tastes bitter. I didn't think to go with him to get tested as well. D'oh! What an idiot.
Nurse at hospital told him to stack acetaminophen and ibuprofen for the fever.
He came home and took his temp (102) so he took some Tylenol and some nighttime cold/flu med and slept for 6 hours. He just got up a little while ago and his temp was 104. I have been monitoring his pulse ox and it is above 95. Gave him more Tylenol and am pushing fluids on him. Will give him ibuprofen in a couple of hours.
I have not had a fever, just a terrible sinus headache today and my bp is elevated from all of the stress and worry. If he is sick I have already been exposed, but I am trying to keep a bit of distance and will be sleeping in a different room.
Our friend group from college (we graduated over 30 years ago) is rallying around us in our group text and offering to send us PPE and cleaning stuff, and I assured them we were good on that. One friend just let me know that two spirometers will be delivered in the next day or two. Really touched.
So Thanksgiving is really going to blow, which was going to pretty much blow anyway, DS wasn't going to be able to come home and my Dad's independent living facility sent out a decree yesterday that anyone who left to see family for Thanksgiving dinner was going to have to quarantine for 14 days, even though they have stopped meals in the dining room and all activities so it's not like they were socializing anyway. But he was told that he wouldn't be able to go on his daily walks which is what has helped keep him sane these last eight months.
We were supposed to pick up DD from school on Wednesday. Her semester is over and she is done until the middle of January. Now she is going to have to have a friend from her bubble drop her off or not come home at all for the next week or so.
I am seriously considering having her quarantine herself in her room instead of quarantining DH and maybe me in 1 room.
So now I am wondering if I need to get tested as soon as he gets a positive result or if I should wait until I have more symptoms.
I am just so stressed and worried because I have been so hyper-vigilant about staying home, wearing masks, sanitizer and all, trying to keep safe an dnow I may have exposed my dad, DH is most likely sick and I have underlying medical issues.
So if you managed to read this word vomit worry novel, thank you for listening. I have been needing to get this out all day.
