That was folded in half to go in the envelope, would you fold it with the writing in or the writing out? I know, really important stuff!

Yes, the writing should be on the inside. Don't know the reasoning but I was taught this years ago at secretarial college (when you were taught such things).

Writing inside.
I learned this this in art school when I was studying graphic design. It not only looks nicer, it keeps the ink from smudging as much. Today's soy based inks are better for the environment but are much less permanent.
I love invitations and graphic design. I'd love to see you invitation--you could blank out the personal information.

Inside--that is also how junk mailers get us to open the letter. You can't see it by just opening the envelope, you actually have to look inside to see what they are trying to sell you.

Writing in, and fold up so that the person takes the invitation by the fold as it is pulled from the envelope.

Writing in, and fold up so that the person takes the invitation by the fold as it is pulled from the envelope. Back in the stone age I was taught just the opposite. (To clarify: writing in, but the fold goes into the bottom of the envelope.)

I always do writing and fold at the bottom of the envelope. The fold thing is because if people use a letter opener to slit the envelope they won't run the risk of slitting the letter/card. Can you tell I've done that once or twice?!
