She’s so cute! I saw the story yesterday without the video.

Ack! Loved her terrifying grunting when getting pulled from the tree. She sounded like a ticked off dog.

I love koalas! My dog was very interested in the high-pitched noises at the end of the video.

If I knew how to embed a video I would show you the koala that ran across our front lawn while we were having dinner the other night. He climbed up a tree, started eating leaves immediately! We had one on our back fence outside my daughter's bedroom growling too. She hates them. I think they are pretty cute. Corinne Just realised this is an Adelaide koala! I live in Adelaide.

Probably a stupid American question, but for those who live in Australia, is it common to see koala's in residential areas?

Yep There are many areas in the Adelaide Hills where koalas live wild. Along the freeways in these areas the council put up signs to warn motorists and also put plastic grid mesh over the dividing concrete barriers on the roads so if they wander onto the freeway they can climb over the barriers on the mesh to get from side to side Where I live Kangaroos wombats possums and echidnas are more common- especially kangas such that when anyone travels at dusk we warn them to “ look out for the big furry grasshoppers!!!” Google the sound koalas make- nasty growling- not cute at all 🤪

Probably a stupid American question, but for those who live in Australia, is it common to see koala's in residential areas? You don't tend to see them in built up areas, but the outer suburbs and rural areas, yes. Sadly we lost a lot of our koala population in the bushfires last year and whilst they're not quite on the endangered species list, there are concerns that they are at risk. I remember the first time I heard a koala grunting like that. I was camping and it was night-time. I thought there were wild pigs nearby!

she sounds a bit like she's possessed, when they first try to get her out of the Christmas tree! they are so cute... but those claws! It's hilarious that she decided to come inside and hang out in their tree in the first place; and she was so still at first, I wonder if it took them a few minutes to notice her?

Gumtrees, creeks everywhere. We had a pair of ducks bring their 5 babies down into our cul-de-sac a few weeks ago. We see koalas all the time- even have street signs with a phone number to ring if you injure or find a injured koala. Adelaide is one of the smaller capital cities ( nothing like Melbourne or Sydney!) and it only takes us 30 minutes to drive into the city.
