I miss live Musicals so much, but I wanted to give all musicals fans a heads up about a couple of events.
Tonight on NBC the Grinch the Musical will be on. Matthew Morrison, Glee, is playing the grinch. Most TV musicals have been pretty bad, but I’m going to give it a try.
Tomorrow on NBC Tina Fey is hosting a Broadway special.
And the one I’m most excited about: The Prom releases on Netflix on Friday. It’s a movie musical based on the Broadway show. I love love the cast album of the Broadway show and James Cordon is in the Netflix version, so I have high hopes. I’ve been listening to the movie’s soundtrack and I have really enjoyed it!
Anyone planning to watch?

Also if you haven’t seen this, you must watch. I thought it was pretty cute. Andrew Rannells is also on The Prom.

Thanks for the heads up. I miss going to the theater so much.
I will have to see if NBC has been restored to DirecTv so I can watch The Grinch and Tina Fey.
But I will definitely watch The Prom on Netflix. The Prom was one of the shows in our theater package this past year and I was really looking forward to it. Thanks to Covid it was pushed to 2021. At least it wasn't cancelled like a couple of shows in the package.

I'm looking forward to watching The Prom. I am fairly certain that I will bawl my eyes out through the entire first musical, concert or live performance of any type I attend once the pandemic is over.

We had tickets to see "What the Constitution Means to Me" in the spring, but it was cancelled. My mom and I usually see 4-8 shows a year! I'm also a technical director for theatre, and we've had to move to fully virtual shows. I miss being in the auditorium with my students!

Well I would at least give it a try but stupid Directv might block me out... I think it is still going.

Not a musical, but a live ballet performance. "The Nutcracker will air on KSL-TV December 24, 25 and January 1 at 5:30 p.m. It will also stream on the KSL-TV streaming app. It's done by Ballet West out of Salt Lake City.
Search KSL TV in the different app stores.
ETA: I'm excited for all of them, except maybe the Grinch musical.

I miss my Broadway shows.

When this musical was announced DH and I thought long and hard about making a trip to NYC to see it. It would have been magical. I know they have pushed it back. I sure hope it still happens.

Didn't realize The Grinch was tonight! Have seen some clips from the filming. It looks like fun! Excited for the Tina Fey show, but will probably need to see it over the weekend. And the PROM! I hope they didn't ruin it. LOVED it on Bway and wanted to see it again. Two of my daughter's friends were in the cast on Bway. We had tickets to see Hugh Jackman in The Music Man on Broadway this week. Third row seats. Hugh Jackman. Sigh. <Big Sigh> I should have seen it in previews in October! Also had tickets to Six (which I already saw in previews), Plaza Suite (has been rescheduled) and something I am forgetting that we got a refund on. It's a ridiculously difficult time. What a time for dd to have decided to transition from ballet to musical theater. She had call backs to two shows actually on Bway and one national tour... no actual casting but it was starting to feel like a remote possibility... and now, who knows what the future will bring.

I hope it eventually happens and they tape it for those of us that will never be able to go to the theater. We just signed up for Netflix a few weeks ago. I’m really looking forward to The Prom. I remember Matthew Morrison from Glee. I know he can sing so there’s that. However, it sounds like it’s going to be a little, well, odd. I will definitely tune in just because I love musicals.

We love musicals and saw The Grinch in the Broadway across America series about 6 years ago. I am enjoying it.

How is this one? I am a hopeless purist, so the thought of this makes me cringe, but might give it a shot if you all think it is good.

My niece is performing in our regional theater’s production of Tarzan right now. She’s an (amazing!) aerialist, and this will be her first play that I am missing. I’m so sad, but I just can’t bring myself to do it.
