My parents bought a travel trailer this past summer so we figured it’d be nice to get them stuff for it. One sister is getting them an InstantPot with the airfyer. Another got them an electric skillet. I’m totally stumped. If you camp, what would be useful to you? If it matters they travel, it doesn’t stay parked all summer. They haven’t strayed too far from home yet but they will.

Along the lines of small kitchen appliances, how about a small toaster? Or, there are camping grills that are very popular - Blackstone makes a tabletop grill that's really nice.

Try things that they could actually use at a campground outside - fire starters (flint), roasting sticks, chairs, extra blankets, collapsible hampers, lights for their awning. Look for a book of campfire recipes.

What kinds of things will they do when they go camping? Maybe think of things to go along with their activities such as illustrated manuals for bird watching or identifying wild flowers or mushrooms, wool socks if they like hiking, small binoculars, a compass, a portable (or solar) power bank for cell phones or devices, a portable grill with accessories and spices?

Thinking back to our camping days. Perhaps some LED lanterns that are rechagable for sitting outside at night? If they don't have them already, some nice folding chairs to sit in outside. They make some portable zero-gravity ones too. Some nice unbreakable glasses with a carrier.

A toaster oven might be nice. They may already have an oven within the trailer, but if it is too big it would be nice to use the smaller oven instead of a bigger oven to keep the heat down and the electricity use down. I love to back my potatoes in it.
Do they have a microwave oven for the trailer? coffee maker? How about linens? beds might need special sizes. A map book?

Portable grill. I have an electric skillet that I use all the time. I use it outdoors to cook a lot of our meals. Good quality fire tongs. Mosquito repellent that operates on butane packs, and a season’s worth of inserts. Because there will be rainy days: deck of cards, games, portable DVD player/screen. A case of sunscreen 😹 Pie irons. Electric whisk/ multi tool with immersion blender attachment. I use the whisk to make no-churn freezer ice cream.

I would say fewer plug-in appliances and more things that can be used without electricity. A nice pour-over coffee maker (we got a good one at Target for about $20) where you only need to heat up water to make it is a good idea. We got this for our camper and it was the best purchase and is used often: Collapsible Bucket
I would also recommend the coordinating kitchen tools that collapse as well - space is always a premium! We have these as well and like them: Strainer and Bowl set
There are some nice nesting sets that have bowls, strainers and measuring cups too. It's nice to have good playing cards and games for entertainment, as well as puzzle books and novels. This spice set is also pretty great: Travel spice container It makes it easy to take the spices out to the grill or campfire. I used my label maker to mark them. They are a good size and don't have to be refilled often. Hope these help...

Do they camp at National Parks? If so how about a park pass. DH and I each have one of these Solar Battery Charger. It's great to keep our phone charged. I use one of these Butane Stoves for cooking garlic or bacon or other smelly foods outside. I've given all these as gifts at one time or another. ETA: do they like to play games. We carry travel versions of a few games.

The campers in my family use an indoor/outdoor area rug at the door to their camper that is also large enough for chairs, etc.

www.amazon.com/Wonderbag-Portable-Slow-Cooker-Batik/dp/B00ESI97YUIf your folks have the space for it, I would recommend a Wonderbag. It works like an old fashioned haybox: you bring foods to a boil on the stove as usual, then place the pot in the Wonderbag, which acts as a slow cooker. It's also great for keeping food hot or cold for a day out. This is a South African product that is literally changing lives in Africa. It reduces the amount of firewood required to prepare a meal, and also reduces the time a pot needs to be tended. These tasks usually fall to girls, keeping them from attending school. Searching for firewood also puts them in danger of rape and murder. Manufacturing the bags provides jobs for women too. For every Wonderbag sold, one is donated in Africa. A link to their South African page www.wonderbagworld.com/

I'd get a small folding table. I have one from Aldi (a while ago). It is about 14x36ish and folds in half.

A blackstone grill. We weren't going to get gifts for each other, but they went on sale on Amazon for black friday, so we bought one. As did my sister/BIL and my BFF and her DH. We all bought them for camping.

How about a bug zapper? It certainly comes in handy. We also have a tower fan that oscillates and a space heater. Portable firepit. Maybe some camping signs to decorate the outdoor space or a map to fill in which states they have been to that sticks on the outside of the camper. Wind chimes and such to hang off the awning.

I don't know if all those appliances will have enough power to work in an RV. The IP pulls about 60 amps alone while an RV air conditioner pulls around 18/20. I would be weary about a camping cooking appliance. I would look at blankets, storage and organization containers/bags. Hammocks. Comfortable outdoor chairs. Yetis (or imitation ones) are always in demand at the campsite. Maybe a basket of wine or other adult beverages. Sunscreen. Towels. String lights. Pop up awning. Citronella candles that can be stuck into the ground like a tiki torch. A large rug for the area right outside the door of the RV. Maybe a camera to take pictures of all the great places they visit. . A GPS system? Lots of matches and long stem lighters.

We all bought them for camping. We got the Blackstone griddle for camping and DH loves it more than the grill. It's easy to use, easy to clean and easy to transport (it separates from the stand which folds up).

My BFF camps every year (she has 4 kids). This year for her b-day, I bought her a case of that stuff that you put in the fire and it changes colors. Her family loves it and it’s not something she’d ever spend money on. She uses it when camping and when using her fire pit at home. She sends me a pic every time they use it, they use it a lot. I typically, for her b-day, try to get her something for herself and something they can use while camping.
