I know on the scope of 2020 horrors this is not much, but really.
We are in the process of having our bathrooms remodeled, down to the studs. Bit messy to live through but happy it is in progress. The contractor called this morning and his son tested positive for COVID so he and his crew are quarantined for the next ten days. They wear masks, I stay clear of them and Lysol/Clorox every conceivable service when they leave each day. Time will tell.
I mentioned this in another thread, but no firm outcome at that time. About two weeks ago I was climbing over construction material, got my foot caught and twisted my knee to keep from falling. Well, it kept getting worse so last Friday went to the doctor and he suspected a fractured fibula and possible torn meniscus. It ended up being a fractured tibia plateau and meniscus is okay, yay. They are doing a second set of images on Thursday and then will decide on a treatment plan. Depending on the outcome I will be non weight bearing anywhere from six to eight weeks. Hate the crutches so getting around the house on my rolling office chair.
Has anyone experienced a fractured tibia plateau? Did it heal well or do you have continuing issue?

Has anyone experienced a fractured tibia plateau? Did it heal well or do you have continuing issue? I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but tibial plateau fractures can be quite serious as depending on where the fracture is exactly, it often means that other structures on the knee are destabilized. Being non weight bearing is important - so please don't walk on it! It might end up being for longer than 8 weeks, depending 9again) on where exactly it is and if it's a displaced fracture or not. Surgery is often required - sometimes just to screw don the fragments of bone, or some people will proceed on to a total knee replacement. Of course (hopefully) if yours is displaced and you stay off it as ordered there is always a chance it will heal well and you'll have no other issues, but it isn't a great place to have a fracture and ongoing issues and needing some sort of surgery is relatively common (sorry!)

Thank you for the information. It is a closed fracture, but as you indicated they are not taking it lightly. I am following the directives. Anxious to hear the treatment plan and really hoping surgery is not indicated.

I fell down the stairs, while carrying my baby (he was fine, saved him) and smacked my knee on the stairs. I cried and thought that there was something not quite right. I "walked" with my knee bent for 6 weeks until I got an MRI and it came back with:
Marked bone marrow edema in the posterior lateral tibial plateau with a small cortical impaction fracture noted
I wore a brace and did physical therapy after this analysis. All good now.

I’m remodeling my kitchen right now. My electrician tested positive a few weeks ago which brought the entire project to a screeching halt. It finally restarted today. I’m requiring the contractors to wear masks as am I. After they leave I disinfect with Lysol spray and Chlorox wipes.
