It's on my list to watch. Is it good?

I’m on episode 5. I’m really liking it. For those who don’t know, it’s set in Regency England and is on the surface, a typical story of upper class English girls making their first debuts and trying to land husbands. It’s produced by Shonda Rhimes, so there’s a racial angle that’s intriguing—the two main characters are an interracial couple, Queen Charlotte is a POC, as are other primary characters.
But if this weren’t enough, there are numerous other parallel stories, and I cannot ever remember seeing a series with such multi-dimensional and well-fleshed out characters...and it’s done really well. There’s also way more sex, nudity, and sexualized themes than are normal in this type of story, so if that makes you clutch your pearls... I warned you. Thumbs way up for me on this one. Made up for the abysmal Wonder Woman 1984.

It's on my list to watch. Is it good? Yes, so far. Very good. I might need to re-read the books to see how far they stray - I know there is one additional character in season 1. Dd surprised me by watching with me - she is more of a criminal minds type. But when I paused she got upset.

Is it streaming? On cable? I'm interested but too lazy to google right now.

I read most of the early Bridgerton books back when they first released. I have been wary of trying this series. It's rare for a tv show to live up to a book.

On episode 2. I didn't read the books so I don't have a basis for comparison but I'm enjoying it so far.

I stopped at episode 3 right now. they are faithful to the books in tone, but they do change characters around a bit. it is well done.. don't expect austen but .. good costumes. good action, sexy. and the characters they do introduce make sense.
I love mrs. bridgeton telling off her son1!! the women characters are strong and not all thin, pretty or perfect.

Each book in the series was about a different sibling. Daphne Bidgerton and the Duke of Hastings (Simon). They were the focus of book 1. I am hoping that there are 8 seasons, one for each book.

I’ll admit I started fast-forwarding in episode 3. I’ve not read the books and outside of the two main characters it just wasn’t holding my interest. It’s very pretty to look at though and I like the diverse cast.

I finished binge watching this last night. I've read the books so already knew the major plot points, overall I enjoyed it, but there are few things I wish had been done differently, including the major reveal at the end of the final episode which I think could have been held off until later seasons (assuming there are more). I think there are ways it could have been done that would have allowed viewers to guess without being quite so obvious. I really liked the bee on the door in the opening shot, a nice nod for those who know the story.
It's interesting seeing the different choices that have been made, like Marina Thompson turning up as a full fledged character instead of just the dead former wife of Phillip Crane. I really liked the casting choice for Simon, and if I re-read the books I will now picture him like this, but am disappointed I don't love Anthony who was my favourite of the Bridgerton brothers in the books. I'm hoping that if there is a second season and it follows the book order, that I'll come to like him more.
And I miss the little character quirks that I loved from the books, like Colin being always hungry, and Violet being the master manipulator of her children which I think they tried unsuccessfully to do here.
That said, if they make future seasons I will definitely be binge watching them as well.

Like it better than I thought. I read all of the books and was disappointed by the trailer. And I’m not a huge Shonda Rhimes fan. I imagined it filled with all those incessant, overly dramatic speeches she throws in everything. But it’s surprisingly good. I like the racial diversity, bright, fun costumes, and the music, which is current pop music done regency style. Not exactly historically accurate, but let’s face it—these are fun, fluff books—so the show should be as well.

I hope he grows on me....

I’m kinda ‘meh’ on it. I wasn’t in a very good mood what I started it. Maybe I’ll start over.

Enjoying it so far. Reminds me of the newer Vanity Fair. I think we let the Austen pieces (which I love) convince us that the regency period was all chaste and proper and staid, when, in fact, humans are humans and this version of the regency is probably closer to what really happened than the tidy versions.

DD and I are about 4 episodes in. I haven't read the books, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I like it and was wondering how they were going to keep a whole series focusing on Daphne and Hastings, so I was happy to read above that each book was able a different sibling; that would be great!
There were a couple of scenes that I had to ff through as they were a little too racy to be watching with my teen son and daughter in the room.

We counted the racy scenes that we had to fast forward through and I think it was 6 or 7. We finished the season and will likely watch season 2 if there is one. Not entirely compelling, but we liked it well enough to keep watching.

Based on this thread I watched episode one last night. Been watching Grey's with DH so I'm keeping in mind same creator to forgive some of the inaccuracies. Costuming is awful IMO. Makes it distracting. But I will continue watching. My husband left when he saw Queen Charlotte but she was of blended heritage so it didn't bug me like it did him, the history teacher.

I loved it.
It’s definitely a fantasized version, and not historically accurate in terms of costuming, dialogue, music, and of course the racial aspects.
I minded the obviously modern music a lot less than the operatic duet sung at Lady Trowbridge’s ball. Belle Nuit written in 1881.

I don’t remember Benedict’s story as much so I’m not sure what to think of that story line yet. I still have two episodes to go in this season, so I will reserve judgement on the ending.....
