My dh bought me a $400 Apple gift card for Christmas so I can buy an Apple watch. I have wanted one for awhile.
So...what size case do you have? Which band do you have and do you like it? I am quite certain that I want the one that is GPW+cellular.
So many options and I do not want to screw up my order! Eek!

I think that would depend on the size of your wrist. My wrist is small so I went with the 40mm.

You will have to try them on to know for sure. I don’t like the look of the larger watch but had to give up the easier to read screen. There is no right answer.

I've always purchased the larger size and do not feel like they have ever been too large.

I also think it depends on the size of your wrist.
I have small wrists and went with the smaller size and it is perfect.
I have the rose gold case and white sport band - I love it.

It depends on your wrist size.
I have tiny wrists - as in I can wear children’s watchbands. I therefore have the 40mm and couldn’t go bigger- it already spans the width of my wrist. I also can’t read a thing without glasses, but can see my watch just fine, and even enter the unlock code in the morning, without my glasses on. So, I really don’t think that the 40mm screen’s size is an issue.
You should go someplace that carries Apple Watches - maybe BestBuy or Target - and see if you can try them on.

I had the 42 mm 1st Generation watch and just upgraded to the Series 6 (Christmas gift) because I wanted the Pulse Oximeter function. I really do not love any of the Apple Bands, so I ordered the Sport Band because it is less expensive than others, I have had a couple of these bands from the 9th company because I like a nylon band with a buckle. I've had them about 2 years and really like them. the9thco.com
I also got the 44 mm because it's easier to see than the smaller model.

I have a pretty big frame, including my wrists and I wear the 40mm. I would not want to go larger - this is already bigger than I prefer (but I love the functionality, so put up with the size).

I had a Series 2 and currently have a Series 4. I have a big bone structure and I have the larger size. It works for me.
I have the Milanese loop band in gold on the gold watch case. I love the Milanese loop because it is totally adjustable, so it can fit exactly how you want it. I can tighten or loosen it in teeny increments. Very comfortable. There are cheaper versions of the loop band available, but I’ve found that they don’t hold up as well as the one from Apple.

I wondered the same thing when I got my Apple Watch. I went with the 40mm and I don't regret it at all. I have Cellular on mine.

I love big watches so for me it was a 44. I still have a first generation so no update advice. If you don't love any of the bands, just go with the least expensive. I regret having chosen the more expensive milanese band and never wear it. Third party watch bands are fine.

Thanks for all the great advice! I did end up going to Best Buy and have decided on the 40mm face. Will be placing my order with Apple later tonight!

I have the 40 mm. I have a small wrist. I didn't really care about the band; bought a bunch of them on Amazon. But I've been pretty lazy about changing them.
