FYI, right now (I don't know for how long) you can get a one year subscription to Craftsy for $5. You can watch all their classes. If you want to "own" a class you can purchase it, but you can watch without paying for the classes. Here's the link: CraftsyI just bought it and put a reminder on my calendar to cancel the subscription on December 26 of next year. Enjoy!

I just checked Craftsy and it is not offered as an option for me. All I get is the $79.99 annual membership price.
Wondering if this isn't a targeted offer. Have you ever had a Craftsy membership in the past? Did you have a code to use?

I saw this and was wondering what you really got. What is the difference between this and buying an individual class? Are you missing something to enjoy the classes? It just sounds too good to be true.

I bet they hope you buy individual classes and/or forget to cancel after a year.

As you are checking out, jot down the phone number and email address you have to contact to cancel. Apparently you can’t just push a button on their site to cancel when your year is up.

They have been sending me emails for over a month to join up for $2.99 for a year. When that didn’t work, they dropped it to $2.49 for a year. When THAT didn’t work, they dropped it to $2.25 for a year for the last couple weeks. My neighbor was all excited to sign up for the $5 deal until I told her what they offered me, whoops.

I signed up. It let me use my old sign in so it wasn't just for new subscribers as the screen implied. I've written down the number and made a note on my calendar for early December 2021. I don't want to wait until Christmas to have to call and try to get ahold of someone to cancel.

Are there things that you don't get in this premium membership? I'm not sure but I had the following box pop up when I paid for the subscription: I am going to assume that the 8 free classes are ones you can download and own? Does anyone here know?

Just be careful. I bought quite a few classes over the years, and I joined in 2019 for $39.99, which seemed pretty good at the time. Then they went out of business and there was all kinds of talk about how everyone would be able to download the courses they'd paid for individually, but nobody knew how. I had a bunch I'd paid $30 and $40 for a while ago. You couldn't access anything for a while, then they mostly came back. I'd noted my join date on my calendar and called well before that date to cancel. The person I talked to said they were sorry to lose me, the cancellation was taken care of, and they were going to send me an offer to rejoin at a lower membership price. I told her I really didn't want any surprises, so please check again to be sure I was cancelled.
I never got the email, so I called back several days later and said I really wanted to be sure my automatic renewal was really cancelled. This time it was a guy, and he said he saw on my account where I'd cancelled. I asked twice more if he was sure, and he said absolutely. (BTW, there was a considerable wait each time I called before a representative was able to take my call.)
On the renewal date, I got a text from my credit card saying there was a $79.99 charge from Craftsy and I went nuclear meltdown. Called and waited again, and told the person I wanted to warn them I was upset because I'd already tried twice to make sure this wouldn't happen. She kind of dithered and I told her I wanted my refund processed NOW. I was polite, but insistent.
So I got my refund, but now I get at least two emails a day from them. Some offer a membership for $59.99. Some offer one for $5, some $2.49, some $2.25. On the same day! It's insane. The courses are good and I've been pleased with all that I've watched. The instructors used to interact on the website with the people taking the classes and I really learned a lot. I just wish the company would get straightened out.
