I used to love ProFlowers but I think since they were bought by FTD that they are not good because they use local florists to make/deliver the flowers, rather than mailing them like they used to. That means the local florists can make substitutes to flowers/containers if they don't have what is in the picture and that annoys me! I want what I paid for!
Who do you use to send flowers? I've heard of Bouqs but don't know anyone who has used them.
PS I don't want to use a local florist. I want to know exactly what I chose and paid for is what the recipient gets.

I search the locality where I want to send the flowers, then phone the florist when I've looked at their on-line presence.

I’ve been happy with Farmgirl Flowers farmgirlflowers.com/Everything I’ve sent has arrived beautifully and looked like the image on the site. I recently used Farmgirl Flowers and they were very nice. The person I gitfted them to said they were a little peaked when they arrived but perked up wonderfully when put in the vase. They are pretty expensive I thought.

I call the local florist. Then, once the flowers are delivered I ask the recipient to take a photo and send it to me. If it doesn't match the photo shown I call the flower shop and talk to them about it. Yes, they may end up making another arrangement and sending that one too.
It just frustrates the heck out of me that they don't match what is shown.
Oh and now a lot of times I send an edible arrangement. I contact the store closest to my recipient and send that.

I used to use local floral shops and I still do if I have personal experience with them. But I find most florists turn out pretty bland arrangements and I prefer a more current style. Farmgirl suits my style without me having to spend a bunch of time tracking down a florist with arrangements I like.

I always use a local florist. When you do an online search for one, be sure they have a physical address. I got fooled once by a website that looked local. The arrangement was terrible.

I order through a local florist, and they handle it for me. I always use the same one.

My kids sent me a eucalyptus wreath from Bouqs for my birthday. It was absolutely beautiful and I was impressed. I've never ordered from them myself but would consider it.

Also prefer to use a local shop. I usually tell then to use their judgement and make it pretty. Have always been happy with the results. Ds just did this for his Grandma. He wanted to send her flowers for Christmas and called the local shop. They told him they were running short on Christmas flowers (he waited til 2 days before), he said do what you think will be nice and they did. Grandma said the arrangement was gorgeous.

PS I don't want to use a local florist. I want to know exactly what I chose and paid for is what the recipient gets. I find that the online sites like proflowers, etc do the same thing, plus the flowers can be iffie at best when they arrive. i prefer to use a local florist, and support local. Always call and tell them exactly what you want. They can tell you then if they don't have a specific flower and need to substitute, or ask them to contact you if they need to do that. I've always had very very good results with local florists!

I only use local florists. I would rather give them my business. Not to mention, proflowers NEVER delivered the flowers on time or they were terrible quality. You should support local businesses.

I always use local florists when I can, too. I call and talk to them and discuss what I want; I like that since they're local to the recipient I feel like they can be counted on for more believable information about when they'll actually be delivered.

You are much more likely to actually get what you ordered with a local florist than any of those big national chains. All of the national chains do what you are describing in the OP.

PS I don't want to use a local florist. I want to know exactly what I chose and paid for is what the recipient gets. I'm confused by this. Every time I have used a national chain the flowers were nothing like what I had ordered. A few have been terrible- utter disasters. My local florist is awesome. They have a website and the flowers are almost exactly like the photos on their website. They are very up-to-date styles, too. I love them- they are always gorgeous. I sent two of my friends flowers last week, and sent myself the same one, and from their photos and looking at mine, they are nearly identical. So beautiful.

For me, the problem is not my local florist. I have someone I use here who’s fantastic. Likewise if I’m sending to friends/family in other places I’ve lived - I know who’s good. But an example of when I use Farmgirl - I recently was sending flowers to a friend who lives in a small town in Montana. I was able to find three florists in her area online. Two looked good, one didn’t. I called one and they didn’t deliver to her area; it was too far out of town. I even offered to pay extra. Nope. So I called the other one. They told me how busy they were and couldn’t deliver for a week. Uh, no. I wasted a ton of time and ended up ordering elsewhere anyway.

I call a local florist and tell what colors/style I like and a price. I typically say something “wild and free flowing with seeded eucalyptus”. You get more more bang for yo buck if you ask them to use whatever is in season and they have on hand.
