Trump planned to oust acting AG to overturn election

I think the Lincoln Project will go after any Senator that doesn't vote to convict

However they are more likely to follow McConnell if he goes for guilty.

The one good thing Trump has done for America is shown how it is possible to upend democracy. If he had been brighter, more palatable, less petty he might have got away with it.

With the same system the next guy with dictator ambitions might just do it.

But the articles of impeachment are solely on inciting the riot/sedition type stuff. They can’t just throw in the election fraud stuff too. That would need to be additional articles sent from the house, right?

No, I was listening to an interview with on of the Congress prosecutors last night and they had included everything from refusing to concede, lying about mail in votes, the Georgia phone calls, and basically everything leading up to 1/06.

“ WASHINGTON — The Justice Department’s top leaders listened in stunned silence this month: One of their peers, they were told, had devised a plan with President Donald J. Trump to oust Jeffrey A. Rosen as acting attorney general and wield the department’s power to force Georgia state lawmakers to overturn its presidential election results.

The unassuming lawyer who worked on the plan, Jeffrey Clark, had been devising ways to cast doubt on the election results and to bolster Mr. Trump’s continuing legal battles and the pressure on Georgia politicians. Because Mr. Rosen had refused the president’s entreaties to carry out those plans, Mr. Trump was about to decide whether to fire Mr. Rosen and replace him with Mr. Clark.

The department officials, convened on a conference call, then asked each other: What will you do if Mr. Rosen is dismissed?

The answer was unanimous. They would resign.

Their informal pact ultimately helped persuade Mr. Trump to keep Mr. Rosen in place, calculating that a furor over mass resignations ”

If they’re smart, and want to save their party, they’ll rip the bandaid off trump, impeach him, and then he will be banned from ever holding office again. He will go away, and all this nonsense will end. Their “base” (jesus do I ever hate that word) will be pissed, but they’ll get over it because Americans have short attention spans and they’ll find some other republican to prop up.

It’s disgraceful. They are terrified of being primaried.

Of course he wasn’t. He didn’t have a rational thought the entire time he was president.

I watched an interview last night with the reporter who wrote this story. The “thinking” from the Trump camp was that if they could get Georgia, the other states he was contesting would somehow fall like dominoes. So crazy, so desperate, so how was this person at the helm for four years. 

Even now, I am so grateful that we are rid of him. He was really unbalanced after the election.

When is GA going to file election fraud charges, that’s what I’m waiting for...

I believe that his behavior after the election was even worse. The absences, the middle of the night rage-filled tweets, his behavior on Jan 6th, attempting to have a stooge at Justice get the GA results overturned, the sudden firings, etc.
