Passive solar heating and cooling -- great concept. Doesn't look very well cared for, though.

I had to laugh at all the fancy 'brick' arches and cabinet door in the kitchen... and then a dropped acoustic tile ceiling.
Interestingly, an 'underground' house just sold in our area. They had had it professionally staged to help sell it and it was still on the market a looonnggg time. I went to a sale the stager held to get rid of all the furnishings, lamps, art, and knickknacks. I wanted a seagrass patio set that was in the photos, but it sold the night before. I did score a very large mahogany bookcase for my office for only $25.
Now that I think about it, the underground house I was in had dropped tile ceilings in the bedrooms. Wonder if it's something about being partially underground that makes that necessary? I would hate that.

lololol what a weird place. That kitchen is hideous. And that oven is SO HIGH UP.
You're nuts, Realtor "With a bit of finishing touches, bonus areas can be customized into your own additional living areas!"

I think it could be a really cool house (with a LOT of renovating). I love tiny homes, especially the container ones, and this reminds me a little of that.

Are those electrical sockets sticking out of the floor in the last couple of photos? Why?! All those windows make it look from the outside like the primary school my kids attended. And the windows look filthy. It would probably have been worth springing for a window cleaner in order to make the inside look brighter. The kitchen and the carpets are all incredibly ugly. It does have potential however.

Super weird house. I feel from the outside it had some potential with a neat modern look but the inside...no. Do we assume these houses were recently inhabited looking like this?

I'd take a bulldozer to it.

Where is the driveway to the garage doors??
I remember back when I was young my dad loved going to look at open houses. .... there was a time period these were really popular. We drove by them quite a bit but never went inside one.
Those windows look nasty.. at least try to make the house look decent...

With the floor being concrete, you would want to have those in place before you poured.

Link to the one near me. Believe me, the staging and the photographer worked miracles on this one. It was not impressive in person. The tall bookcase with the spiky plant on top in the atrium is the one I bought.

This is the cheapest house I could find in the area - very uninspiring!! 🙄 www.zillow.com/homedetails/703-Moraga-Rd-Moraga-CA-94556/18470467_zpid/

That oven!?! I am 5’11 and it looks too high up even for me. And I kind of agree...tear it down and start over.

it kinda looks like a motel or a 60s mini strip mall?! you know, something that wasn't house and was retro-fitted to be a house?
BUT... i do see big potential. i doubt those windows would ever come clean, likely need to be replaced. the kitchen is a complete write-off. and i agree the outlets look like walls were meant to be built there.
someone with a good eye (and budget) could make it pretty cool i think.
(still can't get over these prices. we have tear down bungalows on 21x80' lots that go for over a million... sigh)

It's an interesting looking house. Although the kitchen is just about the ugliest kitchen I've ever seen.

I wonder how well the passive heating works. It's located south of Buffalo in an area that usually gets a dumping of lake effect snow every winter. I imagine it would be cold and damp, on top of being ugly.
