I'm still folding my pants, shorts, pajamas, and t shirts Kondo style and it's so nice to see all those clothes at a glance. I feel like those have become habits. But my underwear and sock drawers are back to being a mess. For some reason I decided that folding underwear was a waste of time and I'm back to folding one sock around the other. Maybe I'll put those two drawers on my to do list.

Tee shirts are folded not as neatly and all visible at once. That's good. Socks need major attention, although not so bad because I mix and match randomly anyway.

Yes and I have come to the realization I have too many clothes, specifically shirts. The good thing about the way she folds is I can get a sense of what I wear and don’t wear. But I’m hanging on to some shirts because I’m between sizes. I really should pull the small ones out but I promised myself I would only keep what fits in the wardrobe. DD also folds the Kondo way but then just shoves everything in the drawers. Her drawers are deep though so Kondo folding is not really the best option.

But I gave up folding my undies after one round of laundry. It's too time consuming, so now I'm back to just chucking them in my drawer unfolded. I never did the socks her way, always just one inside the other.

I still do all of it. I was just thinking today, it’s time to do another round of purging. As mentioned above, this method allows me to see how many of each item I have, and hopefully identify the ones to let go.
And I happen to like folding my undies and socks.

Our linen cupboard is still being maintained by my daughter who introduced it to me. I still do t-shirt, nighties/pyjamas and my bras and knickers. By moving them forward in the drawer I am actually wearing more items. Before I am sure I was wearing the same things over and over again as they were always put back on top.

I have and every time I do laundry, I curse her - LOL. I just hate folding laundry. My sock drawer looks great, but I hardly wear dress socks anymore. Athletic socks are in a different drawer and folded over each other. The silky athletic shirts don't stay folded well, so they aren't really folded in the MK way, but my regular cotton ones are. My linen closet is still pretty good!

The folding was about the only technique I adopted, and I'm still doing it the Marie Kondo way. I'm a natural organizer/tosser/tidier, so lots of her tips don't really apply to me, but the folding of sweaters, etc has been amazing! No more messy piles where I've tried to get the bottom shirt out!

All my socks are back to being balled (sometimes I can hear them sobbing in the drawer) because folding was too fiddly and they didn’t stay paired well.

My DD Kondoed my tea towel drawer a couple years ago and I have managed to keep it up. My dd is shocked that it still looks great!

Yes, but I've done it before Marie Kondo - so I'm an original LOL. I have never just thrown my socks or unders in a drawer, they've always been folded and sorted by like, all Bombas calf together, all Bombas shorties together, all Feetures together and all athletic uglies together.

Socks and underwear are pretty much the only things that I fold using the Kondo method. Lol

No, they're not rolled, they are folded, and there is only one extra fold to the way I used to fold them - it's just a slightly smaller rectangle. I can now fit almost double the number of t-shirts in that section of my wardrobe. I hang my "good" t-shirts and tops on a hanger.

No, I found it did not give me joy, so I tossed her method.
But I am definitely no where near a hoarder. I am a minimalist, so never much to declutter

Maybe I'll put those two drawers on my to do list. Lol. My tee-shirt drawer is perfect by her standards, as is the PJ drawer. Also my long-sleeved shirts/sweaters, and the towels in the linen closet. But underwear, bras, socks...nope. I agree, I thought what the heck as I was folding underwear. -- And I'm not giving my bras any love (to quote Kondo). My bras and underwear share a drawer and there is a divider...that's my one stab at organization. Then I just chuck them into whichever half they belong in. And socks... hahaha... I have about six or so pairs of striped knee socks (different stripes) so I do fold those together. Otherwise I wear either white gym type socks, or black dress socks. And I buy the same brand from Costco every time. So those just get tossed in the drawer...no need to fold because they're all the same, so all I have to do is grab two whites or two blacks and I'm done.

Yes! My dresser and closet have never looked neater. I have found a better way to fold my jeans and pants though.

She focuses SO MUCH on drawers. I came to the conclusion that other families must have A LOT more drawers than we do.
We hang everything except socks and underwear.

Hmmm, I can see it’s space efficient (if you have the drawer space) but I never folded t-shirts, long or short sleeve, only the sleeveless/vests. They’d be too creased for me to like that system 😁

Just one more benefit of working from home!

The two big takeaways that I took from her book that I always try and remember are: 1) store like items together and 2) you won’t use things you can’t see.
I still fold all my underwear, socks, nightgowns, etc. the MK way.

Pretty much I've stuck to it. I even do the ridiculous Festival of Tidying at least once a year and sometimes twice, with a major reduction in crap/old things/decluttering at the same time. I've gotten a lot more minimalist over the years since I started. I say ridiculous because I can't believe I've stuck to it for so long, it actually does bring me joy being able to find things I'm looking for, and I feel smug about living my best life over here with my folded socks and skivvies.

I keep a very spare wardrobe, so I hang all clothing except bras, underwear, socks and pajamas. I already folded my socks - I never liked how one sock would be more loose than the other. I haven’t kept up folding pajamas her way - the nightstand drawer isn’t deep enough for vertical, so they are back to layers.
My youngest’s drawers are all Kon Mari style - it works very well with his autism. DD hangs almost everything like I do, and still stacks her pants vertically, but not underwear. DH never got on board - he only has a closet, and stacks folded tees in layers in a hanging unit. He is back to top wrapping his socks so he can find them in the dark without waking me. (He switched his hours to even earlier so we can both cover remote school hours)
Our kitchen towels/wash clothes are Kon Mai, but not our bath towels.
I will probably use her method of grouping like things across the house before purging for the rest of my life - it really does help you see the excess and let go.
I never put away my purse and wallet, etc like she espouses, but I did finally make a home for it during the pandemic to minimize its travel beyond the door.
