Done and paid. As farmers we have to file and pay by March 1st. Paid state, federal and our fertilizer/chemical bill and there went $150k. OUCH.

No. Still paying on last year and figure this year isn’t looking great either so I’m avoiding it.

Yes I did mine this morning. This year I qualified for EIC and will be getting a refund back. I was out of work since April, on unemployment, and when that ran out was living off my savings. Luckily I was hired again in January and I’m able to build my savings back up again.

We haven’t, I am too scared of screwing them up so I make my husband do them and he likes to put them off, I would rather just know the worst. I am especially nervous about this year because I have been on unemployment so long. I did have the max taken out, but it still worries me.
A lot of you mention state taxes, I didn’t realize other states besides Oregon had a state tax. I thought sales tax negated state tax like in Washington. I know Alaska doesn’t even though they don’t have sales tax, but really thought that only other states without sales tax had state income tax.

We've done them but haven't filed yet. We owe yet again. No matter how we tweak what we have taken out, something else comes along to eff us over. Every year it is something different that surprises us. It's frustrating.

I didn’t realize other states besides Oregon had a state tax. NYS does...but my retirement is not taxed by the state.

I generally do them in March sometime to be sure all statements have had time to get in. Plus since my husband retired from state employment a couple of years ago and went back full time in the private sector, we pay a big chunk so there’s no incentive to rush.
I’m sitting down with our youngest son this week to teach him how to do his. He’s excited to be a first time filer. Bless it. He’ll get over that I’m sure.

I’ve done them but will wait until April to file. I will get back $4 from my federal return and owe $1 to the state so I’m not in a huge hurry. That's damn perfect! I did my taxes but haven't filed yet. I increased my withholding because I lost both my kids as tax deductions this year. It wasn't enough and I owe $1600 federal. $50 state. I'm debating what to do with my city taxes. I normally work in the city but live in the township. Since I've been working from home I don't need to pay city taxes for the duration of my home work. But I know the city is going to have a big hole in their budget. I'm debating allowing them to keep my taxes.

We pay our seed/chem/fert/fuel in November and December to get discounts. Painful! Sometimes we have to order our seed before we have even gotten the harvest done. Plus we have cattle. LOL It used to scare me to write a check for over 100K.. But after buying calves every year, it gets easier. Still makes me clench up a bit! Trying to decide if I want to buy 200 calves now. Also can't find 200 calves right now that fit our program, so that is making the decision easier. DH is on the 'no sleep' cycle now.

LOL I remember when my son was about 14. He had worked hard for a year and was going to get paid at the end of the year by his grandpa. Nothing had been taken out for taxes, so he had to see what that big check was and then how much of it went away. He asked me "Who gets all my money?" .. I mean he was SHOOK!

For the first time I scanned all our documents and uploaded them to the CPA's secure site. It was so easy! 2020 was the first year we were both retired the entire year, so we made sure we had enough withheld from our IRA distributions and social security. We overdid that, so we are getting a refund.

We don't do our own; but yes, we have sent off all the documents and are just waiting for them to be mailed back to us.
