So how did you get out of a slump? How long was it?
I have lots of new papers and embellishments to play with. I just never get the urge to get upstairs to my craft space to create.
This pandemic on top of my other responsibilities has drained me. I would love to scrapbook, I just don't have the motivation.
It has been 7 months since I have scrapbooked. 3 months since I made cards. What worked for you? Did you just scrap lift for bit to get going? Have a plan of attack?
Hopefully I scrap tomorrow.

I've always just taken the time away and come back when I'm ready but I totally get that doesn't work for everyone.
I have a scrappy friend who struggled with mojo for pretty much all of last year who set herself a challenge to create something every day. It didn't have to be a full layout, for a while she was doing rolodex cards which could be as simple as a couple of die cuts, some word stickers and enamel dots. Then she set herself a challenge to create a layout every day for a month. She definitely had days where she forced herself to make something, but pushing through the creative block seems to have helped her.

I struggle with daily pain which can make it extremely difficult to feel like being crafty. I join card swaps so that I have someone relying on me to produce, it helps to force me to get up, push the pain aside and do something that makes me utterly happy.
I did take a little more than a year off from any crafts and I'm so glad to be back at it.
I hope you find your mojo!

I'm having the same struggle and I'm trying to figure it out myself. One thing that's worked for me in the past, that I plan to try today, is to just go hang in my scrap-room for 10 minutes today. I don't even have to do anything if I don't want too. I just want to go be with all my pretty things. 90% of the time, I start playing with something before the 10 minutes is up. Or I start putting things away, and then I start playing, because that's where all my fun stuff is.

I think scrappyem has the right idea. Just go to your space for an amount of time with no expectation of creating anything. Start by doing something small, like reorganizing an embellishment container or sort through some photos. For me, just the act of being in my room in doing something will also then spark some mojo to get some scrapping done.

What about doing something layout adjacent? I have zero motivation to make a layout, but the other day I bought one of Paige evans stitching cut files to play with. I thoroughly enjoyed working on it several hours during the week. I have no desire to turn it into a layout yet but it was nice to do something scrap related. Now I want to stitch all the things and I’m thinking about punching out other files like this I can work so I have them when I’m ready to actually pull a layout together.
I’m also thinking of going through my scraps and making a bunch of cards. Put that mess to good use.

I’m in a quasi slump right now. I haven’t done any scrapbooking or PL since early Dec. I’ve only done my memory planner & card making since then. I even gave Dec pictures printed & sitting here. I don’t know what it is but I haven’t been able to do it.
Not a complete slump because as I said I’m up to date in my memory planner & I've done cards both from scratch and from kits.
I guess if I had a complete slump I’d start back with something simple like a card kit. Crafting but not thinking can get you started.

I also wanted to add if you like crops there are 2peas virtual crops on the weekends that you may consider. It's fun! It's nice to have the camaraderie while you scrap. I've joined and some times I haven't gotten much done but others I've been pretty productive and enjoy listening to the other ladies chatter. Good luck with breaking out of your slump. It sounds like you definitely have the desire to start back up, which is always the hardest part for me.

I need to just make myself walk into my room. Set a timer for 15 minutes.

Join a merry bunch to scrap with, perhaps? We're holding an online board crop in March if you're interested... I haven't scrapped at all this year so I have two months of catching up ahead of me. I plan on embracing the togetherness of the March crop to get my creative juices flowin' and goin'. There's something energising and motivating about community. Sometimes, it takes a village to scrap. I hope you find your crafty mojo soon!

I've been doing 15 minutes of ANYTHING memory-keeping related every day. This can be photo selection, organizing products, printing, creating, journalling - ANYTHING in my "crafty space" (which is really a side table in my dining room, but it works!) every day. Some days I dive right in eagerly and work way longer on productive things. Sometimes I stop immediately after 15 minutes, but either way I've done something and can feel like I'm not entirely losing that crafting element out of my life! I don't consider it "forcing" myself so much as getting to decide how I use that designated crafty time depending on my motivation - and whether it's a day where it sticks and I really get cooking or one where I've just organized one element and then moved on, I've still accomplished the task for the day.

A friend of mine and I have been struggling with this too. I was thinking of creating some kind of challenge chart for myself. And rewarding myself somehow when I reach certain goals. I already have it on my daily to do list to craft for 15 minutes every day. Sometimes that's just cleaning off my desk or doing some fussy cutting in front of the tv, but I count it. It's awfully easy to let myself off the hook daily though for that to do item. I need to find a way to get the motivation up. I thought of also using the old trick of scheduling an appointment with myself into my day, but my 7 YO usually will come along and derail that.

Organizing (or just cleaning) my craft space helps to inspire me a lot. If you don't need to do either, the baaic idea is that stumbling upon stuff I love but hadn't thought about in a long while brings forth a ton of inspiration.

i go through those especially if i don't walk into my room at all. once i'm in, i can get going. so that's my advice: just go in your room and sit at your desk. pull out the materials you want to work with and maybe that will be enough to get the ball rolling.

YouTube videos and zoom scrapping sessions with a couple friends help me.

Sometimes my scrap space overwhelms me. So what I do is decide to scrap one layout in my family room with the TV on. I then locate one or a few photos that I am excited to scrap, that I know just what I have to use, or a layout that would go together easily. Then I pull photos and product, take my trimmer and adhesive down to my TV room and put on a show I recorded or some other mindless entertainment. I like how quickly I am able to actually put the layout together.
If I am up for it, I go pull for a second layout that meets the same criteria - fun photos, ready product, simple layout. Getting something done, anything, is motivating.
Generally I only crop at crops, but on occasion I follow my own advice above and it works for me.

I'm participating in the 100 Day Project and my focus is 15 minutes of crafting a day (that can be anything I choose it to be - actual crafting, watching a technique on Youtube, organizing, whatever as long as it involves crafty stuff). A limited time gets me in my chair - I may only do my 15 minutes or stay much longer. It's interesting that this daily focus has me thinking about crafting long after I've left my chair. Next step? Next project? What colors? What stamp set? And that thinking/planning has me excited to sit back down again.

I look through my completed scrapbooks, and it inspires me to scrapbook.

A lot of good ideas here- I like to work on kits that I purchase when I'm in a slump. All the hard work is done for me re: planning, thinking, figuring things out (and getting discouraged when inevitably I don't have exactly what I'm looking for or it doesn't look as good on the page as it did in my head). The thinking is done for me- all I have to do is the creating part and enjoying the final product.
