Nothing. I was scheduled for the Pfizer #1 yesterday, but was emailed on Thursday to go that day from work. I was wearing a long sleeved sweater and uncomfortable underwear 😂. I did my normal long walk that evening and made sure to move my arm around a lot. My arm was sore and I was tired and ready for bed before 9pm. My normal bedtime is between 11-midnight.
For #2 I’ll have a short sleeved shirt and luckily it’s a Thursday, so if it hits me hard I have the weekend to recover.

No prep needed. I just went and got them. Waited the required 15 minutes, being checked on every 5, then went home. Wow, you were checked on every 5 minutes? I sat there for 15 minutes and left. My husband was just after me and when he asked the pharmacist if he should wait, the guy was like "eh, 10-15 minutes if you want." I was checked on as well. Mine was at the hospital off site but on campus and there were 5 doctors/nurses walking around the wait area. If they saw you had a mark on your card, they circled back around frequently as that meant you have allergies

I was told to hydrate, so I drank more water than usual. I will do the same thing for my second shot.

I made sure I had the required documents saved to my phone and wore a sweater with loose sleeves that could be pushed up - no other prep.

Nothing. I found out last minute I could get it and was just lucky I wore something appropriate to work that day. My boss called me and said, if you want it, go now! And hurry!

I was well hydrated and had a short sleeve shirt on. That's about it. I did get some side effects about 12 hours later, but nothing too bad. I was fatigued, a little nausea, body aches, felt hot and cold all night. The next day still some fatigue and felt hot so I took some Tylenol. I made sure to drink lots of water. By the next day I felt fine again. That was my first shot, so I'm kind of nervous what will happen with my second shot.

I pulled out a short-sleeved shirt, since it's winter and all I had immediately available were long sleeved.

I had my second Moderna shot Friday afternoon. I was good Friday evening with a little bit of arm soreness. Saturday I was down for the count. Headache, zero energy, upset stomach. No fever but I felt like hell. I did manage to down some grilled chicken my husband made and drank a ton of water. I started taking 1000MG of Tylenol Friday evening and all day Saturday and that seemed to help. I watched all three Alien movies, kept a heating pad on my arm and also noticed one (or some) of my lymph nodes starting to swell in the armpit where the shot was given. I went to bed at 8PM and slept for 13 hours.
Whatever shirt you wear make sure you can pull the sleeve up easily.
My arm still hurts somewhat today but I am moving it around more. Overall I have more energy. Still a twinge of a headache but nothing like yesterday.

My husband was just after me and when he asked the pharmacist if he should wait, the guy was like "eh, 10-15 minutes if you want." I got mine at a very well organized mass drive through clinic run by the national guard. They put one of those magnetic car sign things (like they do at my tire place) on top of the car when you arrived and then noted the time your shot was administered. They directed you to a parking area and told you if you started to feel ill to put on your flashers and honk your horn. They checked when I arrived and then when 15 minutes elapsed they checked again and sent me on my way.

Nothing, I had no time to prepare. I got poked today. I was taking a break on FB after doing the treadmill and saw a post that they have extra vaccines at the place where they an appointment drive thru today. The post on FB said they had extra and anyone over 50 in the tri-county area can come and get it. So I threw on a sweatshirt and went. Took roughly an hour and we had the time we could leave written on the windshield. The national guard checked on us every 5 minutes during the 15 minute wait time. No issues so far, I even finished the treadmill when I got home.

That's great that so many of you have been vaccinated! I don't have many friends that have. We are in PA and still in phase 1a. I think it will be a long time before I get vaccinated. But I don't plan to do anything for it. Just go and get it.

Nothing? do agree with wearing a short sleeved shirt, though.
After my second shot the nurse said that I could take pain meds (ibuprofen or Tylenol) after 24 hours, preferably only if I had a high fever. But she did say that you aren’t supposed to take anything before the vaccine.
I was wondering if that should be the recommendation with other vaccines as well? When my kids got vaccines we were always told that they could have Tylenol as needed. No talk about it affecting the immune response.

I'm happy for all who have gotten vaccines but reading this has given me a small case of vaccine envy. Lol
No idea when mine will come.

I've been checking periodically but although I am high risk, I am not part of any of the following which are eligible in my state of Wisconsin: Frontline health care personnel Residents of long-term care Police and fire personnel, correctional staff Adults ages 65 and older Educators and child care Individuals enrolled in Medicaid long-term care programs Some public facing essential workers Non-frontline essential health care personnel Congregate living facility staff and residents So I wait. At least I am lucky enough to be able to stay at home until then.

Set a reminder alarm on my phone. Went to work all day. Left 30 mins early. Typed the address into GPS. Drive there. Checked in. Kicked myself for wearing form fitting sweater. Hiked my sleeve as far up my arm as humanly possible. The end. 😁

They told my mom to keep moving her arm. They demonstrated in the room for everyone to see. Just windmill motions. She had very little side effects with both shots. I did this and still got a throbbing arm the next night after 1st dose. I should have taken something but didn't.

Get the first shot in one arm, and the 2nd in the other arm. Advice from my sister the nurse... and what the nurse who gave DH his shot was doing anyway. Just curious as to why alternate arms? also, interestingly here they are saying to NOT take any pain reliever afterwards and to let your body 'run its course' with any side effects.

I showed up in a short sleeve shirt. Literally I did nothing. Got shot one of Pfizer on Friday. This, except I got the Moderna one. A friend told me her dh pounded digits fluids the day before the vaccine because he heard of you're well hydrated it was better. But I didn't drink anymore than I normally would and my side effects of the second shot were minimal.

peabay, our shots were at our PCP's clinic and she even came in to see us while we waited for the shot. After, the door was propped open, which made it easy for them to come by and ask if we were ok. Our shots were in our 'dominate' arm. I know someone who got their shot at a drive through. It was given through the car window so I imagine the driver received it in her left arm.
We feel fortunate our Dr called us to get the shots at her clinic instead of at a drive thru or grocery store but had those been the only options I'd have gladly gone.
My Hubs has Alpha Gal and there's been a concern about anaphylactic reactions in AG people so he had to wait in the room a full half hour.

I took some Tylenol before the 2nd one, but my only side effect from either was a sore arm. Do make sure you are in accessible clothing.
