How were they able to get vaccinated? Sounds like they would not have qualified.

Can you volunteer at a vaccination site? That’s how my DS got vaccinated

I’m sorry. I hope you get yours soon and that stinks you’re having to wait longer than others who have fewer risk factors.
Are they local to you? I know some friends of mine in Texas (30s, no risk factors, etc) were able to get vaccinated last week because some counties have opened appointments to everyone, apparently because they have more doses than qualified people who want it.
Another friend in Philadelphia, also in 30s and no risk factors, was able to get vaccinated because their zip code was somehow a priority group.
I’m in my 40s, no risk factors, and probably will be waiting until June or July, based on current stats in my area.

It is frustrating. My DH became eligible last Monday in our state (age 55 or older). I have not been able to get him an appointment on a day he isn't working. You are correct there is a divide. Some of it caused by vaccine hesitancy, some mistrust of the government, and some due to vaccines not getting the areas where they are needed quickly enough. Part of that is due to the specialized storage necessary. In the county I live in the ability to negotiate a spot to give vaccines was an issue.

idk where you live, so your situation may be different. there is a county near mine that isn't using all their vaccines, so they opened it up to anyone.
if you have co-morbidities, you should sign up to get a vaccine. from what i hear they aren't checking anyway.
vaccines are not necessarily only being offered to wealthier areas. in my city they are targeting the disadvantaged areas ... and the people there aren't willing to participate!
some people have gotten them just for being in the right place at the right time (looking for a parking place near a hospital).
have you gone online to try to sign up for a vaccine?

I agree. My dad is 71 and has diabetes. He hasn’t been able to get one this whole time and they opened to 55 and up today. It is all bullshit

i am a bit discouraged as well. but i have not seen a single person on my feed (friends and family) that has been able to be vaccinated yet.
my 76 year old mom does not have any immediate appt in her future... i am just under 50 and have no other health issues so i don't think think i will get my first dose until after summer.
i am fine "being down the list" and taking my turn after those more vulnerable... it is just discouraging to think of another entire spring/summer like this. our numbers were finally under 1000 in our province week and just went up to 1600 yesterday... sigh.

I am sorry it is taking so long. Have you registered in every place possible in your area? You can be on more than one list. I got my vaccine early by going on a cancellation list for our local health department. I made it clear when I registered that I was in the last group but they added my name to what they said was a long list. Last week I got a surprise call. The only criteria was being able to get there in 15 minutes or less. Not everyone can do that but it worked for me and a vaccine wasn't wasted. I think this is one of those times we benefited being in a small community.
Pharmacy chains have vaccine now. One of our independent pharmacies just held a clinic. The hospital system that DH goes to has the vaccine though it is a challenge to get through calling them. (DH got his through our health department in the over 65 group.) More and more options are opening up as more vaccine becomes available and the federal government adds sites to what states are offering.

I've been patiently waiting as well, but when I hear about the 18 year old working a few hours a week at a nursery and qualifies because she is working in the agricultural field or another 18 year old working just 3 hours a week in a chocolate store but qualifies because it's a congregate setting, I'm not feeling quite as patient anymore!

It is difficult to be patient.
At this point, I cannot worry about where others are with the vaccine. I find it better for me to focus on the fact that (barring something unforeseen) I’ll be fully vaccinated and heading back to “real life” in 3 more months!!! That is a huge thing to be grateful for IMHO. It also helps if I focus on the fact that most people are following their localities rules for eligibility. If I don’t do these two things, I’m afraid I will get jealous and bitter, KWIM?
Spoken by a 59YO w 3 co-morbitities, the earliest I will be eligible to sign up to receive my first vaccine is April 12, so I do *get* your frustration.

Go on the CVS app weekly mornings by 5 am.
That is, if you’re eligible in your state. My state is 18-64 with co-morbidities.

I understand. I did get my first shot, but it was an ordeal to get the appointment-and I am 65. Hopefully new vaccine supplies will enable you and others to get your shots soon. In my state they have lowered the age, and I hope that they do in your state as well.

Are your sisters skirting the rules? As a firm rule-follower that bothers me. I know I could probably lie and get in somewhere but I won’t do that, however I certainly wouldn’t turn one down if it was offered. I’m starting to get frustrated and envious, but I’m trying to be like MichyM and not focus on others.

I get you! We are in the same state I think. I can’t qualify yet, we don’t even have wait lists. Yet my younger cousins in another state got theirs because the state was allowing the elderly to bring one person with them to also get a shot! WTH! So, they all took their parents and were also able to get a shot. Sigh!

You need to attempt to sign up I literally check every day. They are not accepting under 65 even with co-morbidities yet. That is still their next tier. Are you in CA? Just curious

I am sorry. I have not gotten mine either. I have a comorbidity and I am on three different lists and have not been called. I think its just a lot of people needing it. I think the J and J vaccines are going to help a lot.

I can sympathize with you on having to wait until you're eligible. I'd love to get it right now. I even signed up to volunteer, along with everyone else in my county. They are booked solid for volunteers.

I’m sorry. There are so many struggles and unfair comparisons in this whole shitty pandemic (not to mention life). I made a vow to myself early on that no matter what I wouldn’t judge my circle on social media/real life no matter their choices/actions/lack there of during this time. It’s served me pretty well as my family struggled through two rounds of Covid/long haul symptoms. But I know out there others have lost so much more. So I continue to put on blinders and be happy for the vacationing/non mask wearing large gathering celebrations/getting the vaccines/asymptomatic/it was less then the flu etc etc
It’s the only way I can figure out how to navigate utter unfairness of it all and still have any humanity left.
Sigh This isn’t helpful I imagine but you aren’t alone and hang in there.

I just heard on MSNBC that on Saturday 2.5 million people were vaccinated and they are hopeful the numbers will go up. Please please be patient, my friend's in-laws, both over 70, got their first vaccine today. This site seems to be helping some, nation list with states listed separately. www.vaccinespotter.org/beachgurl

My husband took 2hours off work twice to get his shots- it was that important to us. Luckily in my state you bank 1 hour of sick time for every 40 hours worked. He would have taken the time off without pay rather than risk getting ill.

It is one of those things like MichyM said It is difficult to be patient. At this point, I cannot worry about where others are with the vaccine. From what I have read, don't compare states because they are all doing different procedures and roll outs. I feel like maybe there are a lot of phone calls being made very early in the morning and getting on lists. Walgreens is rolling out vaccines and CVS will be too. I think in the next few weeks and months we will see more pharmacies in supermarkets and other private clinics giving vaccines.

I want to add one more thing that I’ve noticed and may help beachgurl ❤️ feel a little better? I dunno, I hope so. Anyhow, if you want to compare where you are, please refer to your county’s stats and as to vaccine distribution and talk with your real life friends as to their status. IMHO the pea population as a whole skews older, contains a high percentage of educators as well as medical professionals, and lastly yes, some have more privilege than you or I . I was looking at a thread yesterday and was surprised by the percentage of peas who are partially or fully vaccinated. It is more than double my state’s stats....and I don’t believe my state is “behind.”

My state is SLOW rolling this out. DD1 is an EMT and got hers a while back. DH has a lot of health issues and the VA is giving him his first shot on Wednesday. I'm trying to be patient, but it's hard. I don't think I will be eligible until summer.

There is a county in Arizona with a population of 54,000 +/- and every citizen, CORRECTION!!!! as of the other day they are reporting over 38% vaccinated. www.abc15.com/news/vaccine-in-arizona/gila-county-becomes-one-of-the-first-counties-in-the-u-s-to-vaccinate-the-general-population

So what has me discouraged is my age group has been moved to Group 2, General Population age 18+. One month ago, age 50-64 was in group 1C. That group will get vaccines starting March 15th. Who knows when Group 2 will get their shots.

I am the only one with co-morbidities You need to attempt to sign up In my state high risk people are not yet eligible unless they are part of other eligible group: over 65, health care worker, etc. So we wait. I am lucky enough to be able to stay home, so I'm willing to wait but that privilege, (staying home) is wearing thin and doesn't always feel so lucky. It does make me wonder and worry for those, like my DS, who are young and seemingly healthy, works food service etc and how long they will have to wait. He is more worried about working with public and coming home to me, afraid of possibly hurting his mom. Hopefully it'll all kick into gear soon and get all people vaccinated.
