I have not heard any update on new guidelines for quarantining now that people are vaccinated. If you are fully vaccinated and you are a close contact to someone who tested positive for covid, do you still have to quarantine? Maybe it depends on the school/workplace, etc.?

I heard an CDC report that I think was released yesterday that you do not have to quarantine unless you’re showing symptoms…

www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated-guidance.htmlFully vaccinated people can: Visit with other fully vaccinated people indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing Visit with unvaccinated people from a single household who are at low risk for severe COVID-19 disease indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing Refrain from quarantine and testing following a known exposure if asymptomatic

My daughter's school (11th/12th grade building) has a covid dashboard. They had 12 students out with covid Nov. 6th, a lot in quarantine (we got 2 close contact calls in 12 hrs. so my daughter had to stay home for 2 weeks). Now they have 10 students with covid, and only 11 in quarantine! We were confused why so few were in quarantine. But if they don't have to quarantine if they show no symptoms, that explains why only 11 are in quarantine. They go 4 days a week, so no social distancing.

Vaccinated don't have to quarantine but I think that close contact (do students wear masks?) unvaccinated should quarantine for 10-14 days.
Depends on what their definition of close contact is - many districts don't count it unless the students were not wearing masks and spent more than 15 minutes together.

My 2 older daughters are vaccinated, one lives at college and one at home. So they can visit with others that are not vaccinated, but they can't host a large gathering? Looks like just visit with one unvaccinated household at a time.
We were concerned that they could be carriers, and pass it on to us. So we didn't want them going to the gym, going out to eat, going to friends houses, etc. Glad to know that we don't have to worry so much about that now. I feel like every news report I watch says something different. And we would rather play it safe, so we won't allow anyone into our house. But my daughter can't wait to go back to the gym.

They are supposed to wear masks at school. The exception is at lunch. They probably don't count it unless they sit together at lunch. That's the only thing that makes sense. Thanks for telling me that. It didn't occur to me about spending more than 15 min. together without masks.

Yeah....no....that’s probably just a result of school districts loosening up their close contact protocols. You practically have to French kiss a positive person in my school to even be considered a close contact....

In my school district, once you are passed the 2 week after 2nd shot you do not have to quarantine for a school exposure
