I hope everyone cam through the night safely. So much damage on the news.
Thankfully, the storms seemed to go out of its way to miss Memphis. We had some heavy storms, but didn't lose power or any limbs, so we were very fortunate.
The storms were supposed to continue until about 11 last night, but all fronts had moved through by about 9:30.
I hope everyone in the path of the storm today is safe and not affected too badly.
Check in to let is know that you are safe!
OP: It looks like Peas from east Texas to the Carolinas are under a threat of severe storms for today and tomorrow.
I has their emergency preparations/plans ready. Don't go out unless you absolutely have to.
Make sure that you have your ID on your person and that you are wearing sturdy shoes. Keep your devices charged and stay tuned to your local news/weather.
If you have ever been confused about the difference between a tornado watch and tornado warning,
Watch = we looking Warning = oh shit
Hope everyone stays safe!

My local news station keeps warning us about this coming in. Hubby is on night shift just tonight and tomorrow night. I hate that he might be out in something bad. Praying it's more talk than anything.

I am going through the first round of torrential rains right now and we are under tornado watch until later this afternoon. My DD, who lives in Birmingham, just called me. They are closing the campus she works for at noon and she is headed home. Said she would be going to a friend's apt down the street. DD lives in a townhouse apt but friend is in a first floor apt.
My ODS lives in a city that just went through a horrible tornado last year. Wiped out the airport and mall. Most places are just getting started on rebuilding and now they are having to worry about it again. He bought a house near the airport and their threat is this evening. I told him to be aware tonight.

It just came through here (Houston). Heavy rains, winds picked up and quarter sized hail. Fortunately it was out of here in under half an hour. Worried for our family and friends in Miss though. Stay safe everyone!

When it came through KC, there was quarter size hail and one touched down on a house. Didn't completely tear it down, just caused some damage, but the storm didn't last very long. We were under a Tornado Warning for about 45 minutes, I think. I hope it eases up for everyone else.

We are in Alabama and watching it closely. For my area it'll be coming in around 2pm and lots of different waves coming through until close to 2am. Gonna be a long night but I've got flashlights and candles ready, phones charged up and batteries in my weather radio.
Stay safe everyone and please check in so we know you are ok.

Sadly, Patter and other southern peas, this is the real thing. I've been watching a youtube channel that tracks serious weather for most of the day. There have been confirmed tornadoes already in Miss and Alabama, and possibly in Louisiana and Ark too. And the weather is set up for it to get WORSE still this afternoon, into the evening, and possibly overnight. Tomorrow the threat will move more east (Georgia, Carolinas, N Florida). If I lived in any of the affected states, and had a basement, that's where I'd be sleeping tonight. Please take this one seriously. It's looking like the 2011 outbreak. My thoughts will be with you all, and my heart aches thinking of the damage and destruction these monsters bring.

naby64 , praying for you DD. My DD#3 was told today that schools will probably be closed and do virtual only learning tomorrow now. She is hoping that is the case because she is watching DD#1's dog, and he HATES storms. I hate that they don't have a basement at their house though. I wish she could come up here since we do have a basement. River I hate when they come at night. I think the worst for us is supposed to be during daylight hours tomorrow. zella , thanks! I have ridden out a couple of tornadoes in our basement. One hit in our subdivision but thankfully missed our house. Stay safe everyone!

We are waiting and watching. I was off today with DH and took a nap this afternoon, to help if we are up most of the night. We are in central Alabama. My sister lives 30 miles north of us and they have already had 2 warnings and been in safe place for 45 minutes. We haven't seen rain yet, but here thunder in the distance. There have been crazy fishermen out on the lake all day!!

Ugh - this is supposed to move into my daughter's university area tomorrow. Don't we have enough to worry about without tornados!

I have not turned on the weather channel yet but I pray everyone has been okay. DD#3 is staying home. School has been changed to distance learning today since it's supposed to hit us between Noon-3 p.m. She is under a Torcon 7; us a Torcon 5. Right now it's calm and has stopped raining. I always hate the calm before the storm.

Edited the OP.
I hope everyone stayed/is staying safe and that there is not too much damage.
Check in to let us know you are OK.
There is a Pea who is my Pokémon friend and I know she lives in NC, but I don't know her Peaname. Hope she stays safe.

It is going to move more to the coast so they are saying we are now at less of a risk. Praying everyone stays safe.

We had all called off right after lunch yesterday. My DD in B'Ham said they got the last of big storms around 9:30. At that point, she headed back to her place. Me and mine dodges bullets yesterday. Hoping everyone in the path stayed safe.

The number of both warnings and actual tornadoes in the south yesterday was mind boggling!

It was basically a non-event for most of South Carolina despite all the warnings to the contrary. Most school districts had declared it an e-learning day because they were anticipating such bad weather.
We had alternating gray skies & rain interspersed with blue skies & sun. The biggest aggravation for me turned out to be starting out for a walk with my dog and having to turn back due to rain... but then being back out the door in the sunshine for a nice long walk not forty-five minutes later. Ha.

I didn't notice a thing in North GA but many neighbors were terrorized over the idea that a tornado might come while they were sleeping and they were awake all night posting about it in the neighborhood Facebook group. Must have watched Twister too many times.
Growing up in the Midwest, I better see the funnel cloud heading my way before I'll consider heading to the basement and I sleep just fine during storms.
