Anyone know once you fill out tax paperwork for a new job...can you change it? Or just wait the 3 months until my contract with staffing agency is up and company hires me directly? I'll have to re fill paperwork out then right? Haven't had to do this in many many years! Lol

I have changed the withholdings on my tax paperwork before. Is that what kind of change you are looking to make? I wouldn't think that would be a problem.

The higher the number you claim on your W-4, the less amount of taxes that will be taken out. You should be able to change it as often as every payroll period, but the IRS gives employers a certain amount of time to process it if needed. So it might take a payroll period or two, but you can definitely change it. You just need to fill out a new W-4. Some companies allow you to change it through their HR online system (if they have one). If not, google "Form w-4", print it out from the IRS and give it to your payroll department/HR or whoever you turned the new hire paperwork into.
Sometimes there can be penalties at tax time if you didn't have enough withheld between you and DH.
Even if you do Married Single Zero, and it is not enough, you can use the box below to put in an extra $ amount.
Personally I do Married 99 and then a specific amount. That keeps me in total control of how much comes out each check.

You can change it anytime, but if you are not used to addtional income, I would rather have more held out because you may end up in a higher tax bracket. It only took me having to pay one time to change my withholding to single 1.
