This article in the Atlantic has me curious... I Want to Look Damn Good When the World Sees Me Again
Not sure how to add more without making it confusing, but perhaps you can add if the imminent "opening" of your state has spurred your diet/fitness routine. And maybe whether you've incorporated more/less exercise into your daily life this year.

My weight is down a bit, but honestly I don't look great! I think all the stress of the last year really aged my face.

I've gained and lost it plus 2 and want to lose more. I exercised more in the last year than in the last decade, but I realized around October that I needed to be more accountable in my food choices and that's how I finally was able to lose. I don't think anyone would have noticed my weight gain had I decided not to lose it.

I have almost lost the total amount I gained during 2020. I am working on it. I am eating better now and exercising more.

My weight is down a bit, but honestly I don't look great! I think all the stress of the last year really aged my face. I agree with this. But I think for me I've spent so much time on zoom and being forced to look at my face that I've become more aware of the aging issues. It's definitely something I want to address!

I gained 25 pd. in the last year. I can't blame it on the pandemic really. I was always able to eat anything I wanted any time and not gain weight. I could eat junk food all day, and stayed within a reasonable weight. Not anymore! But I can't complain, I got away with it for 50 yrs.! Many of my friends, men and women, had to watch what they ate starting in their 20s. It's so hard to change what I have been doing so many years. I really need to exercise, but an article I read last week about exercising not helping lose weight really discouraged me. I need to find articles on exercise helping with weight loss.
I also blame trying to give up diet soda as contributing the weight gain. When I drink diet soda, that's my "treat" so I don't eat junk food. I can't stand water, so when I drink water and not diet soda, I want a treat, so I reach for the junk food.

When we went to WFH last year I used it as a good time to work on weight loss and started exercising and lost 20+ pounds by July. I have put a few pounds back on with being less active over the winter but with the nice weather the last week or two I have started being more active again. I also started taking collagen peptides and think/hope I am seeing positive results in some of my skin areas of concern.

I have lost 34 lbs. since June 30, 2020, but I have been trying to lose. I have been out working with the public since then too so everyone has seen me. I would like to lose 10-20 lb. more.

That's great! Has exercise helped a lot? It's getting warmer, so easier to get motivated to walk and run. Honestly I started the diet (eating smaller portions and trying to eat food that is less calorie dense/healthier) on 1/3/21 and it has helped decrease the number on the scale (I still have a ways to go) but exercise has changed the shape of my body. My clothes fit better, better posture (which makes everything look and feel better), and better cardiovascular health. I have an apple watch so I was able to look at at 2019, 2020, and compare cardiovascular level, amount I walked and exercised to today. 2019 I had a healthy cardio fitness level. 2020 it went way down. I am now back up to the healthy cardiovascular level and my activity and exercise levels are up to normal again. Lessons I am learning: The more you do, the more you can do. The less you do, the less you will feel like doing. Start small and try to be consistent and build activity slowly. Celebrate your small victories (I ate well today. I exercised today or 2 days in a row, etc)

honestly, I've had so much crap going wrong in my life in the past couple years- aside from the pandemic stress- that I'm counting it as a win that I get up and (mostly) function every day. I'm thinking about wanting to to focus on my health / weight again, but I'm not there yet.

So it's good that it can change the shape of your body. I;m the type that if I don't notice a difference on the scale, I will give up. I got rid of 70% of my clothes because they don't fit anymore. I wore size 8 or 10 last summer and am buying 12 and 14 for this summer. I am tall, with long legs, so very hard to find clothes that look right on me. I have always felt uncomfortable with my body shape, even when I wore a size 8.

I didn’t lose much weight, but built a good amount of muscle walking 25-35 miles/week last year. I started after I was furloughed and kept it up after I returned to work until winter cut me off. I have gained back a few pounds, but not much considering I haven’t restarted my workouts very hard.

My weight was up 10 pounds due to COVID bread baking. Then I restarted WW and dropped 5 pounds before my surgery. I’ve been on lower activity since surgery at the end of January, so am stalled there. As soon as I can start running again, I plan to drop the other 5 pounds.

I have gained about 5 lbs but I think it looks like more. I need to get back to more consistent working out to get rid of some of the flab.

I was there 11 months ago 🙄. I was feeling so good as we neared the end of our first lockdown last spring... I was working out everyday, I took a break from makeup and took meticulous care of my skin, my hair had a good break from heat styling. I was ready for summer and.. well you know 🤷🏻♀️ I am still workout out but not with the same intensity, frequency, or enthusiasm. Between a medication change and the carbs catching up with me, I am heavier than I would like. But I am not stressing about it. 2020-2021 has been stressful enough on its own. I am not at an unhealthy weight so I am just dealing with it. I am going to put away the clothes that make me feel bad about myself. I have bought some new things that flatter me better for now and am focusing on just being happy in the present. When life is a little more normal, and we aren’t as homebound, I will find a new gym (mine closed permanently) and focus more on me. But for now I will be happy with myself and not give a shit what the world thinks.

I am up fluctuating between 7-9 lbs purely from eating carbs and not moving. If I stop eating carbs and start moving more I feel pretty confident I can get it off.

Did a weight loss company write this?
I would have probably lost weight but for the fact that I have been drinking more than I normally do. I'm trying to cut back for health reasons.

Well I’d gained 10lb pre pandemic due to peri menopause (through hard work I’ve always been able to stay same weight since high school with a normal 5lb fluctuation) - boom menopause is hitting and it’s a whole new scenario not to mention my love of wine, tacos and sushi...
During this pandemic I’m running a whole lot but still eating and drinking so I haven’t lost it. I’m now really ramping up my strength training to get in shape for summer which i tend to do every year. I’d say I look mediocre right now lol

I started walking on the treadmill(at somewhere between 2.8 and 3.2 miles an hour) on January 1st. Except one day in early January when I was dizzy for some reason... So 75 ish days in a row. At least thirty minutes to an hour depending on how ambitious I'm feeling, and how interesting my audiobook is My weight hasn't moved up or down since COVID started, and hasn't gone down with exercise. I decided earlier today I either need to exercise more, or figure out something with the diet (I don't feel like I'm overeating). We cook 99% of our meals at home... And no my clothes don't fit better and I don't look less flabby. It's frustrating.

I really need to exercise, but an article I read last week about exercising not helping lose weight really discouraged me. I need to find articles on exercise helping with weight loss.
There are so many benefits to exercising that aren't weight related. Maybe focus on those? As a menopausal woman I started to exercise daily of some sort and it helped with my menopause symptoms, changed my shape hugely (got a waist back) started to get back some tone, mental health so much better, bone density is excellent for my age, I am strong and feel fit for life. For me also, exercise makes me feel good which then makes me eat better. I think sometimes people think you have to flog themselves at the gym to get any benefits but even walking for 20-30 minutes a day has excellent health benefits.

I do want to start lifting weights, as I know that's supposed to help with weight loss. My husband is in much better shape even going to lift weights just 3 times a week. We quit the gym because of covid, but my husband will get his second vaccine in a week, so we may go back then. I am not sure if I will weight until I am vaccinated, but that could be in 2 months, and not sure if I want to wait that long.
I didn't realize there were other benefits to exercise besides weight loss. I get discouraged very easily, and I don't think it would be good for my mental health if I work out hard and don't lose weight. But if it helps make your body "smaller", than that would be great! I can throw out the scale and flook at close fit instead.
Did you walk to get in shape? I used to run 6 miles a day, but that was years ago! I started getting side stiches when I ran, so I had to stop. I miss it!

My state never really closed, and the gym was only closed for a few months. Nothing else in my routine changed so I can't say I could blame anything or anyone but myself for gaining weight, but I did gain about ten pounds.
I have lost that plus a few more and have a goal of another 15-20, mostly because I don't want to turn 50 carrying this extra weight and looking dumpy. JLo hasn't let 50 equal throwing in the towel and while I'm not that level, I can certainly aim there! 😉

I did go get a haircut a couple months ago, so at least there’s that.
