I just started my job in Memphis and no one at my work wears a mask. It's the same company that I worked for in CA and we have the same rules but they don't care. I still wear mine and they all think I'm weird.

Even if you’re vaccinated you should still wear a mask.
No matter what others out still plan on wearing a mask when I’m out.

Being vaccinated doesn't guarantee that you can't get it. It also doesn't guarantee that I can't give it to you. Keep it stupid, people.

It’s so surprising to me when I see things like this and that they are so different across the country. In WA (in my area at least and everywhere I’ve been through the state during this time) everyone wears masks. Like I’ve never seen a person in public without one except while eating in a restaurant or walking in a neighborhood - like for exercise. On public streets between stores people are wearing them. And today I just got an email at work stating telework would continue through at least Labor Day.

People in our area were pretty good about wearing masks (usually 70% wore masks). But it's been a lot less the past few weeks. I think some vaccinated people who wwere told it's okay to be around unvaccinated people, and to hug people, they figured they didn't need to wear a mask since they can't transmit the virus as easily. I double mask all the time now that so many aren't wearing masks. I don't feel comfortable around them even if they are vaccinated (I know that sounds crazy, but I really don't want covid).

In our area, little kids are much better about wearing their masks, and wearing them correctly, than adults. And the kids are much better behaved with their masks on. I don't see badly behaved kids at stores much at all the past year. I want to thank all the parents and kids for doing such a great job with their masks! I have often wanted to ask the 3 yr. old in the shopping cart near me to show the 55 yr. old woman how to wear a mask!

There was one state where they interviewed a doctor saying that most of their new cases were 30 and 40 year olds. Stay safe.

Being vaccinated just means it won’t affect you as much if you do get it, and you probably won’t die. Still doesn’t make me want to be cavalier about it. The long term affects still aren’t fully known.

My county has 1 active case and the next county over has zero so I'm starting to see a lot more people not wearing masks.

Our governor just announced that April 6 masks will no longer be mandated in Indiana. I will continue to have my employees and clients wear them but I am ready for lots of pushback on both sides. Sigh...

In my shopping lately (Wisconsin) the anti-maskers seem emboldened. No one is stopping them. Last weekend at Sam's a big white guy was unmasked and wearing a shirt that said FREEDOM and almost daring people to confront him. Walking around giggling. At my grocery store yesterday a lady had a shirt that said "I'm judging you" while she wore no mask. I was one of only 3 other customers (that I saw while shopping) wearing a mask. So I guess Covid is over here, too.
We are surrounded by idiots.

It's a stark contrast just over the border in Wisconsin.

HEB did not want to put their employees in the middle of the debate. Source

I was out today for my grocery pick up and Costco run and was impressed that even people walking on the sidewalk had masks on.

I was in Boston today, and walking around for a couple hours I never saw a single person without a mask or even a nose sticking out.

Masks vastly outnumber no masks, even on the streets and in the parks. My kids report the same thing in their areas of Los Angeles. I’m always astonished what I read here about parts of the rest of the country -or even a county away. Just another reason why nobody on this forum should ever try to describe Americans and the American ethos, and claim commonalities like “rugged individualism” (say, what?), personal liberties, gun love, etc. It’s a big damn country.

I go to great pains to point out "not all Americans......."

When I see a person with no masks, it's like I have found WALDO. Men and women who should know better. We have had COVID and had vaccines, but wear our masks religiously.

Thank you AussieMeg!
We are a big and diverse country indeed!
I believe in the scientists who have asked us to continue to mask up. I believe in gun legislation and think our founding fathers would be dismayed at how misconstrued the 2nd Amendment has become. I believe our citizens, rich and poor, deserve the same basic coverage to health insurance, representation, decent housing, fair wages, and human dignity. I believe in clean energy and think climate change is real. I believe immigrants deserve a fair path to citizenship and that we are a better country when we lead with empathy. I believe Trump was a joke as president and think the damage he did was real and long-lasting.
I hope, but am not fully convinced “yet”, that we will do better on all these metrics in my lifetime.

It’s all bullshit - no store here is really enforcing for exactly the reason you said - but I guess for PR reasons they changed their official statement.
