I’ve never been big on paying for classes. The SG 6x6 classes are the first and second ones that I’ve ever bought. This Golden Girls themed LOAD could be my third. I love that show. Ample opportunity for great prompts. Is anyone else doing LOAD in May? If you’ve done LOAD before did you feel like it was worth it?

Elsabelle, LOAD is less like a class and more like a series of challenges that a whole bunch of people take on. There is lots of inspiration for each prompt b/c you get a sample and then the other participants post their pages. The ladies there are also very sweet and hand out lots of positive feedback for your work. If you want a push to just get creating, it can be a great boost. If you don't connect with the story prompt, you can always be guided by the technique prompt. And if you don't "feel" either one, you can create a page "off prompt". As long as you get one page (any size) put together each day, you can keep up. And if you miss a day, you won't qualify for any of the finishing prizes, but you can still catch that page up on another day during the month. Most of the story prompts tend to lend themselves to scrapping yourself, and really encourage you to scrap your own stories. ("Tell about a time you...") But you can adapt it to the same story about anybody. I have already submitted my sample for one of the days, and I created a page about my dd. If you want to take on the challenge to finish 31 pages in 31 days, this one is for you!

Yes, that stamp set is on my wish list. I already have a bunch of stamp sets by Kindred Stamps, and I love them all.

I think justjac has that stamp set as well! I have an annual membership which gives me the three full LOADS plus most of the other events, virtual crops and classes. Just watched the replay of a great Scrap Smarter class about layering with lilacgal!

I've never heard of this.. but I'm interested now! Alice at ScrapHappy has taken over Shimelle Laine's LayOut A Day (LOAD) events three or four times per year. More info HERE.
Each one has a theme, but the prompts usually tie details from that theme to your own scrapbooking. May 2021 (LOAD 521) has the theme of the Golden Girls.

I love the LOAD challenge. Between the daily story and technique prompts it really gets my mojo going. Just because I do all three Layout a Day challenges every year that means I make at least 100 layouts a year. msliz and grammadee Kindred Stamps actually has a new Golden Girls stamp set called Gal Pals that is on its way to my house. Also grammadee I think the original creator of Layout a Day was Lain Ehmann. I think it's okay if I share this discount code. I listen to the Scrap Happier podcast and you can get $15 off either this LOAD or a Scrap Happy membership with the code PODCAST15.

Scrap Happy, LOAD, and True Scrap were run by Lain Ehman, not Shimelle Laine. 😉😉 Alice has done a great job taking over the Scrap Happy membership, and I’m so glad she stepped up when Lain was ready to move on. Shimelle has participated in many of their special events though.

I’ve done the last two LOADs. I wasn’t sure how it would go, because I’m usually a slllloooowww scrapper and I know next to nothing about royalty or Chip and Joanna, the themes of the last LOADs. But I managed to make a layout each day, and a few of them are pretty decent. True to form, I only have general knowledge about Golden Girls. I think I watched it some back when it first came on. But I’m going to give it a try and hope it takes my mind off my radiation treatments, also happening in May. ![:-S](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wavey.png)

This is not an excuse, but I don't always even called my KIDS by their right names! ("Whoever you are! Get OVER here!")
I somehow attached Shimelle's last name to Lain's first in my mind. I think b/c I only really paid attention to Shimelle's last name when downloading info for her class this week!

I think I am going to use LOAD521 to scrap some travel photos from 2016 into a Sn@p 6x8 "flip book". I plan to do it like a children's book for my dgs who lent me his toy to take with me on my cruise. I had meant to do this after I returned, and had taken the photos for this purpose, but... life... He's not that little kid, any more, but now he can READ his book, so I am still in the window I think.
I have pulled out the travel photos and am going through them looking for the ones I need. I also have the journaling I did while on the cruise to help me document. I might slip the chosen photos into my travel journal so I have them in order and kind of connected to what happened (although in a kids' story book, the adventure becomes more important than the actual facts, I guess). Meanwhile, I may decorate the cover of the book. But that might get left until the end, too...
Then when I see the daily prompt, I can choose a photo and run with it!

For me the value is in the accountability and the motivation. I’ve finished all of the LOADs that I have participated in and got a lot of pages done. I’ve only used the prompts once. That was also the only time I made traditional layouts. It was fun and made me think outside the box. Now I just prefer to use the challenge to complete unfinished projects. I don’t currently have the time to create traditional pages everyday so I use the PL app to catch up on my PL albums.
I feel like it’s a better monetary value to be a member especially if you enjoy virtual crops. You get all the loads plus a mini load in the summer. There are virtual crops and lives pretty much every week. I found that it’s helped me get in my craft room more.
Have fun if you decide to participate!
