I was in the process of planning a summer trip to California last March when everything shut down. For awhile it seemed like we would do something different this year but in the end, everyone in the family still wanted to go to California. But wow, I've never felt such angst actually hitting "submit" on reservations before. We're all vaccinated and almost all of our plans involve hiking or outdoor sightseeing but it still seems so weird to think that after all of this time, we can get on a plane and go do whatever we want. Who else has booked your summer vacation and where are you going?

We are taking a socially distanced drive to the Grand Canyon in June. DD wants to do that. It will be a leisurely drive with stops along the way, but we will mostly keep to ourselves. In August, we are supposed to go to Hawaii. We have postponed twice now thanks to Covid, and I keep watching things like the outrageous price of car rentals there, how not everything I want to see is opening up anytime soon, and I am thinking that trip will get bumped out yet again.

21 nights in glorious Yellowstone NP, Jackson Hole, Bozeman and all around there. (Even includes a visit to the "Museum of Clean". Can't wait! At Yellowstone years ago and need to see it again.

Just camping here in state. In October we will be visiting our daughter and son-in-law who are moving to Ohio for a year, then drive to Central NY to surprise my mom for her 80th.

Nothing planned except a few days for dd’s college graduation. We have our 30th anniversary in July. We are planning to go “somewhere “ in August, but are waiting to plan where that “somewhere” may be (hopefully somewhere in Europe, but waiting to see what is open and how safe it seems).

We have booked a week in the Tirol region of Austria at the end of July. We can drive down in under 2 hours, and it is a wellness spa resort tucked between a lake and a mountain range, and we intend to do a lot of camping. We will both be vaccinated by then, so hoping all goes well. We do have the option of postponing if needed due to any change of circumstances. We are still thinking about a second week, probably late August/early September to a beach resort. We are still debating between Greece, Sicily, Croatia or southern Portugal. Whether we do this will depend a bit on DH's work schedule - major project planned for later in the year - and also on whether it looks like we could possibly go to Australia at Christmas to visit family. Beach vacation will require flying, but we will both be fully vaccinated well before that, so I am not as concerned about that as I was when we flew to Greece last summer.

I'm going to my parents for 2 weeks. That's a 5-6 hour drive from where I live. They have warm weather and a pool.
No flying for me this year.

Week at the beach in early June (local area), then moving mid summer so maybe some local weekend trips late summer? Still very much up in the air! I need to get busy.

Our vacations this summer are being planned around college visits. In June we are driving from Texas to Florida and touring a bunch of colleges along the way and spending time on the beach.
In July we are driving to Nashville to visit a college and then will spend several days in Nashville.

We'll do a road trip in France and Spain, the Atlantic and the mediterranean side. A little bit of everything - sun and sea, wine regions, mountains, castles. I can`t wait! I was planning a big trip for this year - either Indonesia or Thailand or Central America- but I am very grateful we can do this and sooooo looking forward to it! I expect that DH and I will be fully vaccinated by then, the kids probably not so it will still depend on the rules in August, but I am very hopeful. We'll stay in cottages and self catering apartments, so we can avoid restaurants and busy public places, if needed.

Just to a wedding so far and to see my mom.. .midwest.. nothing exciting but will be fun at least to do something.
We were going to go to NYC later, but we all changed our mind, and a friend who is from there said she would suggest to wait another year.. so yeah. If I have the funds I am really going to try to take my 12 year old somewhere, like a beach. Just need to find the time and little extra cash. We have some big expenses coming up so gotta get rid of those first.

I'm taking my son to Mexico to swim with the whale sharks. I have a new position, so I don't really have the flexibility to plan much in the way of vacations at the moment.

In July we are driving to Nashville to visit a college and then will spend several days in Nashville. Our planned trip last summer was specifically to look at colleges in CA. We still have a couple on the list for this year but it will not be the focus. DD has decided she doesn't want to spend a lot of time visiting campuses until she knows where she is accepted.

Our big trip will be taking all of our kids, their SOs and grandsons to Disney in June. Selfishly praying they keep reduced capacity until after our visit! lol
I was supposed to go "home" to see my dad this weekend. He has Alzheimer's and is in assisted living. I called to make an appointment to visit and learned they have their *first* covid positive case and are in quarantine. I just cried. I'm so happy his facility has kept the residents as safe and healthy as they have but I want to see my dad darn it! I haven't seen him since last June and we're on precious time. So that visit will be rescheduled ASAP.
And...MIL is not doing well health wise. So we will plan a visit to SD for mid summer and do some sightseeing along the way. I'd love to take the slightly longer route through Chicago and stay a couple days but not sure it will work out.

We are currently booked locally in like country. If things change I’d consider a trip within my country or somewhere in the US we can drive to. We are not ready for recreationally international air travel.

We dont have any vacations planned at this moment for summer, though Hawaii is on our list but we are waiting to set the date until we know when DS will be taking leave. Very rarely do we actually schedule a vacation until its a few weeks out. For Fall, we are going back to Rosemary Beach in Fl.

May is our big trip-going to Orlando on business amd planned family time around that. We’ll be camping every other weekend this summer in our new camper.
Hopefully next summer we’ll leave the state in our camper and do longer trips in it.

I think the furthest we'll end up going is a day trip to San Francisco to see the botanical gardens. A couple weeks ago my boyfriend asked where the first place I wanted to go was.. but I'm still stuck in the 'stay at home' mindset I couldn't dream of going and staying in a hotel anywhere lol

DS got a summer job at a museum in WY, so we'll probably drive over and see him one weekend.
And DH has a family reunion this summer, I think at Lake Mead. I don't know if I have to go to that.
That's all the planning I have done. I'd like a real vacation but I don't see it happening this summer.

This summer? Nowhere. I had to cancel family holidays to Florida in 2019 and 2020, and I don’t dare plan another one just yet. My friend and I have a 'freedom' list (just like a bucket list but without the spectre of death ) and the first thing I want to do is go and see the pandas at Edinburgh Zoo! He wants to visit the Concorde at the National Museum of Flight, and we have lots of other day trips outlined too. However we'll both be happy just to be able to go to restaurants and the cinema again.

Our DGS is getting married in Louisville, KY in July. We will drive there and take in a bourbon tour or two along the way. In August we are going to spend a weekend in Brevard, Nc attending 2 symphony concerts. The venue is uniquely suited for the concerts since it is open on the sides. Seating is limited, however, and socially distanced. We feel very fortunate to get tickets. Can’t wait to hear a full orchestra in concert.

Pretty smart, but now unfortunately that the cat is out of the bag that may go up too. I hope you get to go. We aren't going anywhere this summer really. We went to Catalina for Spring Break, but I'm going to wait unitil 2022 to attempt Hawaii. Maybe go to the Lake Havasu with friends but that's about it.

Pretty smart, but now unfortunately that the cat is out of the bag that may go up too. I hope you get to go. I just read that same article! We're planning a trip in 22 to Folly Beach, SC and just reserved a condo there last week (for 22) that is double the cost from 21. I was looking at car rental prices just trying to get an idea so I can get my budget together and it's over a grand to get an SUV for a week! This is compared to our 400 SUV rental in Orlando in June. I've gone from sticker shock to feeling price gouged as these businesses frantically try and make up for 2020. I've gone ahead and set up our budget, but it's getting ridiculous. OP to your original question, I went to Folly on a girls trip last week to "research" our family trip for 22. Flights both up and down were packed and there were NO rentals to be had (thankfully I had booked months in advance). Our big family trip this year is our postponed Universal trip at the end of May/ beginning of June. This was supposed to be the big redo of the trip we took in 2019 just 3 weeks after my mom Died. I'm excited and nervous at the same time.

I'm not sure that we'll be able to do anything. Still waiting for our first vaccine doses, but we won't have our second before end of summer, and my DD (14) is unlikely to have either shot before the fall. If cases plummet and we feel safe enough to travel by air this summer without being fully vaccinated, AND our interprovincial travel restrictions are lifted, we plan to go to Churchill, Manitoba to see the belugas and polar bears. Which would be wonderful, but with every day that passes, I lose hope that it will happen. Of course, that trip was meant to be a replacement for our trip to Japan, and a family cruise to Alaska... Covid sucks.
