Chase is one of our favorites this year, and he wrote this song for his mom on Mother's Day. Oh my word, I cried like a baby. Listen to the words. Amazing! I cried more than his mom did, and I love how he cries at the end. Truly a special performance. Wish I could get this on iTunes today! www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=FqQkmeG7Jyk

Let me just say that I love American Idol. That song was beautiful. They are all very good and deserve contracts.

We didn’t love the cold play songs but the dedications to mom were beautiful. The original songs this year are better than previous years. I thought many were good although last episode the Adele song was my fav.

Chayse is one of our favorites too! Also, Caleb's song was an original and was GREAT!!
Can I just say though, the whole bringing back contestants from last year was really stupid on the producers part. Yeah I get it they didn't get to sing on the 'big stage' which really isn't THAT big, but it was SO unfair to steal a spot from this year's contestants.

lily, I loved Caleb's song too. He is our 2nd favorite. Either way, I hope the two of them get contracts for sure. And yep, leannec, it sure would be great if he wins!

I like Grace. She is so talented. And I'm glad Arthur is gone. I thought it was terrible idea to bring someone back from last year. Last year's contestants got the short end of the deal, but they still got their shot. And he stole a spot from this year's contestants. I was shocked when Alyssa was eliminated. I thought she would go much further. Caleb is very talented but he has no personality on stage.

We are enjoying this year too. We refused to watch last year's contestants compete:) Caleb is just young, until you listen to his original songs and then he is such an old soul. Not a big fan of Coldplay, but Chris Martin was such a good mentor to all the performers.

Chayse is also my favorite. Grace is great, just not the kind of music I'd listen to. I don't understand all the extreme love for Willie. I just don't think he's that great but unfortunately I think he'll be the winner because of how much they gush over him.

Chayce is our favorite. I was surprised I couldn't find any of his music on iTunes already. I figured he had already put music out.

A few weeks ago, American Idol turned off voting in my time zone before the last two contestants performed. I was quite unhappy.
I was unhappier still when Alyssa Wray was eliminated. I think she's incredible. Like, goosebumps. And sooo much stage presence.

I wasn't surprised to see Alyssa get eliminated. She's amazing but very Broadway no matter she sang. I'm sure we'll see her in a show at some point. I'm just MEH about Willie. I don't think he'll win. He's a lot like Reuben Studdard to me and although he won he never really went anywhere. Chayce and Caleb are my favorites. I'll be happy if either one wins. Chayce's song to his mom was awesome. Casey could run away with the whole thing...we'll see.

She was WAY over dramatic with her facial expressions and really acted very full of herself. When she was being mentored by John Stamos she was quite flippant, and then well you just don't sing Cinderella doing stank face!

My favorite performance of the season! The words from his heart were amazing. Chayse’s mom must be so proud.

I guess I'm in the minority because this season has just about bored me to death. I record it and watch the 2 hours in about 10 minutes. I listen to Chayce and did listen to Caleb. It's too bad that he had to be such an idiot... I do listen to Willie and sometimes Grace. For some reason, someone was dead set on getting Arthur back on. I didn't care for him last season, either.
I don't know- maybe I'm just grumpy.

That makes me sad. He is very talented.
Chayce is my choice. Well it was between him and Caleb and well now it doesn't matter.

Oh no! How horrific and sad. Chase has always been the top runner for me but Caleb was 2nd. Man, just shaking my head. Terrible!

Weirdly, this year two of my son's friends from high school have been on the big singing shows. Colin Jamieson on American Idol and Andrew Marshall on The Voice. And the two of them belonged to a boy band back together back then. I have to say that Andrew is an awesome kid and I hope he goes really far.

I find this sad, and I’m not sure I agree with kicking him out of the competition, although I might be okay with it if there is more information. This decision just seems to have been made awfully fast. I feel conflicted about the whole thing. One, he was 12 when that video was made. I feel that his actions then would be more of his parents doing than his at that age. Two, he wasn’t wearing the hood. The person beside him was. I don’t see anything in that 3-second clip giving context for what Caleb thought about it. Three, in another article I read, his mother said it had to do with a video game and was not about the KKK. I know next to nothing about video games and did not recognize the name. Even if I had, I would not have any context to know if her statement made any sense. It doesn’t bother me to hold older students and young adults accountable for something like this. At some point, you cannot claim “I didn’t know that was bad.” I just have a hard time swallowing this as a consequence for something he did at age 12, a time when information is filtered through the adults in the family. I fully believe in “when we know better, we need to do better.” But at 12, did he really “know better?” I am not unsympathetic to the AI view, either. Their brand is at stake, and their audience is anti-racist for the most part. Maybe they really have no choice but to remove him and get ahead of the story. As I said, I just have conflicting feelings about this. I wish this would serve as a lesson to racist parents: don’t let your young kid do something racist because it will come back to haunt them. Unfortunately, they will probably use this as evidence of “cancel culture against southern heritage” or whatever.

I'm torn on the Caleb decision. He was twelve, so this isn't like it was 6 months ago. And kids make mistakes, don't realize the consequences of their actions and should be able to learn and move on from them. Not have the mistake define them for life. The optics of the video are horrible. But I'm really stuck on the fact that he was twelve. Kids do stupid things.
