If someone came in and asked for a little tiny vase (like 3" or so) and a tiny bouquet, would you be able to accommodate them? (It's for a story idea. I see you can get them online, but I'm wondering if shops are likely to have them on hand.)

Not a florist, but I know several people that do flowers for weddings and have big collections of bud vases. It sounds like this is what you are looking for.
I'd phone a florist to make sure they had something in the store and also expect them to accommodate a tiny bouquet.

Why not just call the florist you have in mind and ask? I love tiny arrangements such as you describe

They definitely should be able to. The fill flowers and greenery florists use will make a darling little bouquet.
When I worked for a florist, we did all sorts of things. The owner loved to make arrangements in little teacups.

Definitely doable, but it depends on the florist. Some of them don’t have a ton of container options, but many, especially the ones that carry extra ceramics for sale, will have something on hand.

I don't work for one but I follow a local one that loves doing stuff like that. She has made flower rings so I know she'll do tiny stuff. The one near me has been in business longer and pretty much only does the "traditional" stuff. Ask them to do something more modern, and the older lady looks at you like you grew another head.

Maybe you could ad specifics into the story about the tiny vase? Make it seem realistic to anyone doubting it.

It is a very old city just down the road a bit! hop2Wow, hmmm, depends on the timing of the story. I’d be more worried about finding an florist in Trenton, and them being open, than the size of any arrangement. Not a ton of florists in Trenton to begin with, most of those are in the outskirts of town. You’ll find a few on the south east side of the city along 206 down towards Roebling park. Or just outside of town like Ewing, Lawrence, Mercerville, Hamilton or Hamilton Square. If it’s a current story so much stuff in downtown Trenton is at least temporarily closed. Too many state employees are working from home so not enough business. That being said, once you find a florist it shouldn’t be too much of a problem, I have received a couple of small bouquets over the years while living in NJ. I know I have 2 - 5” vases.

I used to manage a flower shop. We could do just about anything a customer asked for.

In the small town that I live near (population under 2K) we have a local florist. He will do anything you ask But what you describe, to me, sounds like a 'bud vase'. The ones he uses are taller, about 8" tall. But it would hold one flower and a bit of greenery and babies breath. Very inexpensive and he often has a couple ready to go in his cooler that you can pop in and grab. Or he will fix one up quick to your specifications. You will most likely have a cup of coffee with him and a piece of fudge. He will also use anything you bring in, to fill.

Now I’m so intrigued by the story line this could be a part of.

if you wanted a particularly small vase, i would think you would bring one with you. i would not count on a florist to have a really tiny vase smaller than a bud vase.
