I was just reading the other thread about purging scrapbook items. If I were to try to sell some things on the Facebook groups, what is the best way to ship. Do I go get a price before I list or do I wait until someone is interested? I guess if I was familiar which the different cheap shipping types I could guesstimate. Any help would be great.

I haven't sold regularly since they changed to charging by different zones so I'm not a whole heck of a lot of help but if it were me I'd either go with priority shipping across the board so it's always whatever size box/envelope you're using, or I'd list them as 'item price + shipping' and give them a shipping amount after I got their zipcode.

I usually charge actual shipping, before you invoice the person, get their zip code and I look it up on USPS online how much it would cost to ship. I'll weigh whatever I'm selling (I have a kitchen scale) and input the zip codes and weight and size of package. Paypal is a bit cheaper than the USPS when you pay for shipping via Paypal so if my shipping charge is a bit more when I create the shipping label, I just consider that "handling" (my time and the cost of the envelope and Paypal fees) so I don't refund any shipping.
If I really want to get rid of something, I'll do free shipping and just eat the shipping cost. If the weight of the package is under 13 oz and under 3/4" I'll just add regular stamps and not make a Paypal label. Sometimes that bites me in the booty because I've had a couple of stamps I sold never arrive (or that's what the buyer said) so I've refunded them.

There are also tons of priority flat rate boxes AND ENVELOPES available for USPS, so you 1. save the cost of actually buying envelopes and boxes, and 2. know the price regardless of where the person is. There are far more options than what you see at your post office and they will ship them to you for free. Hopefully this link will work without having to log in: usps flat rate suppliesI realize that priority is not cheap, but over a certain weight it's sometimes the only choice, and the flat rate part makes it so much easier for buyer and seller to know what the cost will be up-front. Also paper stuff gets heavy fast! BTW This is the postage price calculator. If you sell online you will become very familiar with it! postcalc.usps.com/
