Do you have a spin bike at home? Do you love it? DH and I are looking into buying one. We can get a Schwinn IC4 at our local Dick's for $899. Originally I had looked at Bowflex C6, but I read online that the IC4 and Bowflex C6 are the exact same bike. I really want something I can use with the Peloton app, but don't want to buy a Peloton for twice what I could pay pay for a different bike. Any advice from more experienced users would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am not experienced but I bought a Urevo bike on Amazon. You can use any app with it. I am not a spinner by any figment of my imagination but it does work for me. I am certain there are other more hardcore cyclists that can come in with recommendations. Several popped in when I was looking for mine.

So I bought a spin bike from the owner of the studio I was going to...pandemic and all. It was not cheap, that being said I regret not buying the peloton. I use the app also, however the ride is NOT smooth. I use it but am not a fan. I cycle outdoors in the nice weather...16 miles yesterday! Go me!! So guess what I am saying is be sure you test ride whatever you buy. Lesson learned here!!!

I'm a member of a Peleton group on FB that contains a lot of information on this topic. It's called Broke Ass B*tches of Peloton (spelled out of course). If you search for "Poorleton" in the group, you should come up with a lot of results on what everyone uses. If any of that comes across as condescending, I apologize. The group was created to counter another group that asks questions like "where should I put my 3rd Peloton bike in my 2nd vacation home." I think most people with non-Pelotons are on the IC4 and Sunny bikes.

I have the IC4 and love it. It's very sturdy and works like a charm. I've never ridden a Peloton, but the IC4 does it perfectly for me. I use it with the Peloton app -- be aware that the resistance levels they call out on the rides will generally not match up with the IC4. You can find conversion tables online; it took me a while to figure out that I wasn't that out of shape, it was that my bike runs about 20 points lower than the Peloton.

I'm really happy with my Schwinn and also use the Peloton app!

I recently bought the Schwinn IC3 and I love it. I had reward points, gift certificates, and Christmas $ that made my $600 bike pretty much have no out of pocket cost for me. I was not looking for something to use specifically with the Pelaton app because I do the classes on the Les Mills app and I will have at least three months a year where I will not use my bike at all. The classes on the Les Mills app are great btw. My bike suits my needs perfectly, but I know that I could use it for Pelaton classes if I wanted and it would just be lacking some tech things. I will probably get the app for two or three months when I need to mix it up next winter. If I would have been looking for the best bike compatible with Pelaton classes, I would have purchased an IC4. If it's a step up from my bike - it's a great bike.

The Peloton is awesome and my DH would probably buy it if I wanted it, but I can't see spending that much for the bike. Especially, if I can get the same experience on a cheaper bike while paying less per month for the Peloton app itself. I'm a member of some FB Peloton group, but I think it's mostly people with Pelotons. Harder to get advice on the no Peloton stuff there. Thanks again.

I think most people with non-Pelotons are on the IC4 and Sunny bikes. I just ordered the Sunny Health & Fitness Endurance Magnetic Belt Drive Indoor Cycling Exercise Bike Stationary Bike - SF-B1877 on Amazon today for under $300 with Prime Day pricing. Based on my research it should meet my needs okay as a backup for other cardio -- rainy days or those days I just want to hop on something in my house and not have to go anywhere. And you sure can't beat the price!

I bought a Stryde bike because the tablet is an actual tablet you can use for streaming other apps. It's as solid a bike as Peloton, and was slightly cheaper. You can subscribe to Stryde fitness for $29/mo. I switch back and forth between peloton classes and Stryde. If you get an IC4 or the like you can join a FB group Qdomyos-Zwift and they've developed an app that will tell give you your metrics for Peloton and it updated recently to include auto resistance. I will say I do like the leaderboard because you can pass people. Because I'm a digital Peloton subscriber I don't get the Peloton LB which is why I joined the Stryde classes.

I have ic4 and love it. It has stand for ipad which I prefer because I don't have to worry about a display going kaput. I use it with Pel app.

We have a ProForm that came with a subscription to iFit. We also didn't want to spend a lot of money on a Peloton when we're pretty much new to exercise and fitness. That said-- I'm still a little scared of the bike (and all exercise) and am slowly finding some easy workouts that I can do on iFit. Yesterday I biked along the coast of Tahiti. I'm not comfortable on the bike yet and am not sure about my positioning, but I want to like this, so I will keep working on it.

I don’t like cycling on a stationary bike, no matter how hard I try. I do like rowing though.

I belong to a private fb group called "Schwinn IC4 and Bowflex C6 Riders." The group is super helpful for info on connecting up different apps, how to set up the bike, changing out pedals (which I have not), troubleshooting, and making proper adjustments. I've found it incredibly helpful - they are a friendly group for asking questions. Especially pay attention when you're connecting the pedals to the bike - there are some videos and documents in the files section to help with it.

I don't really love how the home screen is set up-- I feel like I have to search to find my 'list' of rides I want to try. Right now it seems to suit my needs just fine but I really haven't done much at all-- only a few bike rides. But-- our Nordic Track treadmill, which we've had for a few years, also has this. We just never renewed our account once the trial period ran out, and when I walk on the treadmill, I watch TV rather than do a programmed workout (which would be better, I know). Now we've been able to reactivate iFit to use on both machines, which opens up more possibilities for different kinds of exercise.

I have an Echelon Connect Sport which is a very popular non-Peloton bike. I'm in a lot of the Peloton and non Peloton FB groups. It's on sale at Walmart in the US right now for $399!! Fantastic bike, magnetic resistance and solid build. I use the Peloton app with the Qdomyos-Zwift app. I don't use it as much in the summer because I like to cycle and kayak outside. I did use it 4-5 times each week all fall, winter and early spring and it was flawless.

I have a Schwinn IC4 and I really like it a lot. I use the peloton app and mirror to my smart TV so I can have my class on the big screen.
Occasionally I will just ride while catching up on my binge watching but doing a class (and I have started doing interval bike/arm classes most often) really improves my workout (ie. sweat). I got mine at Best Buy.

I have a NordicTrack S22i. It is AMAZING! I love it so much - NordicTrack bikes are the only ones with incline. PLUS iFit is freaking awesome

I prefer to listen to workout music and read a book, since I don’t need to concentrate too much. Although, at my gym, sometimes I do use a “hiking” video and hike through mountains or around a lake. For rowing, because it is so much harder, I think I want a rowing that will allow me to envision/watch rowing on the water. That would be motivating to me.

I know it is expensive, but the peloton is totally worth every penny. I'm 2.5 years and 1,050 rides in and I've tried other bikes and it's a totally different experience. Our family pooled to buy one for my sister-in-law that had been using a cheaper bike and she was floored by the difference and is so happy to finally have a peloton.

You don’t need a Peloton if you’re not interested in the full in class experience of the app. Just look for a bike with a high flywheel weight. Preferably 50lbs. That’s what gives the bike its smooth motion.

I started with a Sunny but after 3 months, I bought the Bike+ from Peloton. It’s simply amazing. You get what you pay for and as someone who used commercial spin bikes for years, the Peloton knocks them out of the park. Seriously I’m in love with it.
