The only reason I know what my brother makes is because we work at the same company and I do the payroll there. LOL I know my mom's income because she lives with me and she tells me each time she gets a bump in her social security income. And then when my dad passed away recently, she went over everything with my brother and I so that we all felt comfortable that she was comfortable with her income and expenses. Other wise we don't talk about it.

No one in my family except the children have a clue about our income. We live very modestly in an older home, so I do have relatives who have made assumptions and I'm okay to let them think whatever they want. LOL

They know I make over a certain amount but I haven’t shared any figures with them.

When I started teaching and realized that my salary was searchable by name on a state website... I gave up any pretense of having privacy over this issue. I doubt my parents have looked me up (at least in a long while) but its definitely out there if they wanted to.
But now that I think about it, I bet they do know how much DH and I make. I think we talked about it in re: to the Covid stimulus payments. We went from making just under $160k for the first payment to just over $160k for the third payment, which means we went from getting a full stimulus check, to getting a very small amount in round 2, to getting nothing in round 3. I want to say I mentioned that at the time when we were talking about the stimulus. But its not a regular topic of conversation or anything.
And now all of the peas know how much I make! #whatevs

Yes, our little family of 5 (all adults) know what we all make. DS and DSIL are both Military, so anyone can look it up. DH works for the state so anyone can look it up. DD and I talk about pay and jobs all the time. They got transferred from CA to MT, so the pay decrease for her, based on MT having such a lower minimum wage was something she was concerned about. Thankfully, she found a job that pays great for the area and is only slightly lower than if she was still in CA. We talk about my pay because I am looking at my business closing in the near future (Boss is retiring and closing up shop), and he pays me very well. Looking at jobs online, in my field, that are available at this moment is making me sick to my stomach. They are paying way less than what I make and unless I can negotiate the pay and PTO in lieu of other benefits like health insurance (that I don't need since DH carries our insurance), I see me struggling finding a new job that I'll be happy with. I'm trying to stay positive! I know my brother in law's income because he's a braggart. My sister doesn't work anymore, but when she did, she wasn't shy about telling me her pay + tips, especially the big tips. LOL My Mom and I always told each other about raises and work related things, so we knew what each other made. I know approximately what my Dad made before he retired.

Everyone knows my income. I'm a teacher and it's public record. ETA: Is this about the Reddit AITA thread?? Because DAMN. The vacation one? If so, what a dick he was. What thread is this? I went looking for it and can't find one that sounds like what you are referring to. Just being nosy and bored tonight lol.

My (adult ) children know mine, and I know theirs. I am not exactly sure why this is… I guess because I raised them by myself and it was “us against the world” lol My parents do not know, and I never knew that they made while I was growing up.

I don't actually know what hubby makes, even when I sign the taxes, because he does day trading so it's incredibly complex. I have a ballpark idea. I am on disability, about $600 a month. My younger daughter is too. I think she gets about $450 a month. My other daughter lost her job recently but I knew exactly what she made, and she tells me what her partner earns. We don't think it's something to hide in our family.

I’m not working right now but my husband is military so anyone that knows his rank and time in service can look it up.

I'm a public employee, so if they wanted, they could easily find that information. I doubt any have though.

My parents and my brother know, but we all work for the same company that my parents own. My kids don’t know, but I would tell them. They’re 20 & almost 22 years old.

Our kids have a rough idea of what dh makes. I know what 2 of our 3 kids make only because I do their taxes. Our parents have no idea at all. Not discussed.

Our salaries are public record. So anyone can look up our income.

No. I don't provide that info.
I have one nutty cousin who I don't talk to often but she did call last week. She was talking about another cousin and how she was so rich because she made $xx of dollars. She was mad because my aunt is leaving her money and she's so rich. So unfair. 🙄 Our family income is higher and I never thought that $xx was a lot of money to be honest. We're just average people. This is one of the reasons I don't talk to this cousin very often. She's into everyone's business.
