New goal… I will not roll my eyes at a PLC meeting during the month of August. Impossible. I told my DH I might have to keep wearing face masks until I remember how to control my facial expressions in faculty meetings again. As for a silly goal .... to make it an entire month without getting paint in my clothes.

The one nice thing about doing meetings on zoom was that I could do other stuff during the 99% of the meeting that doesn’t apply to me. Now I’m back being held hostage … and trying to remember to control my facial expressions. (Literal quote from a beloved principal a while back, as we went into a literacy data dive: “Merge, making that face won’t make it go faster.”)

I also had a department chair call me out one time. Asked what I would like to add based solely on ny facial expression. It was lovely.

I really don’t understand principals who insist that everyone “be present” and that means not even sitting there doing something mindless like cutting out your laminated items. We are masters of multitasking and hate wasting time. I promise I can be trained on Love and Logic for the fourth time in fifteen years while also quietly cutting out my laminated beat charts and manipulatives.

I think I’ll make my silly goal to only use non-black/blue pen colors for the first six weeks. Let’s include whiteboard markers in that, too. I love fun colored pens. Retired, but every year I started the year with a set of colourful pens and used no black, brown or red when grading student papers.

I’d forgotten about that initiative. I love that I can pack up during an after school staff meeting so that I can get out of there as soon as it ends. In all seriousness we got a lot of positive feedback regarding zoom IEP meetings. Parents seem to feel really comfortable with the format and it’s easier for them to schedule around work. I hope they continue ti be an option.

It’s my job to make sure she isn’t snoring and have an answer if she gets called on. 😁

Not wearing masks will have its downside. I can't tell you how many times I mumbled things under my mask. I have to be careful not to say, "Mother of God" out loud.

How are our silly goals going?
My goal to wear my chaco sandals until Nov 1 is going strong- helped along by the STILL HOT WEATHER that needs to start cooling down.
I have sprit week this week and want to wear black glitter doc martens- does that break my goal?

Yeah, I failed and continue to fail. There is no perfection or progress. My goal, apparently, should be to keep my face neutral when others can see me. I seem to wear my impatience and judgement

Probably not but their faces would be hilarious. LOL I say "Oh my Jesus." when kids are pushing me. One kid told me that I shouldn't say that because it's taking Jesus' name in vain. I said, "Oh, no. I'm actually asking him for strength to not strangle ya." Then we laughed. LOL

I like to start the year off with a silly goal for myself each year. It makes me feel like I’m winning when the year starts out crazy. By the end of the first month we are getting into a groove, so really this just entertains me. I will wear only clothes that feel like pajamas for the first month except for jeans day (Jump suits, soft pants, maxi dresses, etc). Please add yours. Only ridiculous goals allowed. I have to say that this is an awesome silly goal. I love it!

As for a silly goal .... to make it an entire month without getting paint in my clothes. Made it a month. Today is the end of week 7. Kid picked up a can of paint (1 gal, interior latex) without checking the lid and went to put it away. A whole line of white paint from their waist to their shoes. In helping clean up ... paint on my clothes too. Luckily, I was wearing jeans and in the grand scheme of things, its a little thing.
