I like to start the year off with a silly goal for myself each year. It makes me feel like I’m winning when the year starts out crazy. By the end of the first month we are getting into a groove, so really this just entertains me.
I will wear only clothes that feel like pajamas for the first month except for jeans day (Jump suits, soft pants, maxi dresses, etc).
Please add yours. Only ridiculous goals allowed.

Ugh. I have no goals, let alone ridiculous goals! LOL. I'll come up with something. This sounds fun.

Ohhhhh! I love your goal. I'm not sure what my silly goal will be, but I like the idea.

I’m not a teacher but:
I liked to note my favorite smile of the day. ( well prepandemic, masks really botched this one up )
I have to notate when I’m yelled at or have issues ( as I’m sure you all have to as well ) so I figured I should also be allowed to note at least the best of the happily compliant people. It really put things in a better perspective at the end of the day. I mean most people just do what they need to and I have no issues, I do what I need to. Nothing notable really. But if I’m required to notate those who don’t I ought to be able to at least note one of the good ones. I mean we don’t often make any recognition when things just go the way they are supposed to. It was semi eye opening to see the long stretches of time where the notations were all good. Really gave me a new perspective on the rough days.
Best of luck next school year teachers, who know what y’all will be facing.

I got mine! I will wear one of my 3 pairs of Chaco sandals for school until November 1, if I make that goal, I may extend it to December 1. No other shoes allowed- even on rainy days. Weekends I will wear whatever. Keep in mind, I live in CA so this should be pretty easy to do. LOL

I am retired but my colleague used to wear a dress every school day in September. She never wore dresses at all the rest of the year.

Not a teacher but going back to the office soon and it feels like the start of a new school year, especially because I have many coworkers who were onboarded during the pandemic so I haven’t met them. We’re all getting our hair cut, and new clothes, and adjusting our schedules for the commute time so it really does seem like back to school so on that note, if you don’t mind, I’ll participate.
My goal is to wear jewelry every day for the first month. I haven’t worn much while being home so it’s time to break it out and accessorize.

I had a goal one year to wear every single skirt in my closet without repeating. I think I made it. I have over 40 skirts. VERY FEW fit me now tho. Sigh. 2 kids plus covid. LOL

Retired now, but I used to set a goal to learn all my student's names the first two weeks. I usually had about 180 students. They had assigned seats until I could learn their names, and then they were allowed to sit anywhere they wanted. That made it easier to take roll. each period.
That is not a silly goal though - just a goal

If I say it, I have to do 10 burpees when I get home? (I do not, in fact, hate my job. I just hate all the external forces that are making teachers' jobs so hard right now -- harder than it was already!)

Lol freecharlie. I opened this thread yesterday and closed it again because I couldn’t think of anything to say that didn’t sound negative. But you get my vibe. I think I’ll make my silly goal to only use non-black/blue pen colors for the first six weeks. Let’s include whiteboard markers in that, too. I love fun colored pens.

I love my students, it is absolutely the outside stuff and other teachers/admin that make my job harder when it doesn't need to be. And the lady at the meeting that said athletes should not be tested for Covid to compete at state because there is a chemical on the test that causes cancer...

My ods will be student teaching in September. I'll pretend that you all typed out how much you enjoy teaching. HA! Actually, he's prepared that the biggest hurdles will be parents who think their snowflakes are perfect or absent parents and beuraucracy. Judging from his love of food he'll be very kind to the lunch lady.

I love this type of goal setting! Our evaluations should be based on this...happy teachers, engaged students!
My goal is to try out all the scented Flair Pens - use a minimum of 5 a day. Everything will be so colorful.

My silly goal will be to not repeat an outfit during the first 9 weeks of school. During Covid did way too much online shopping and have not worn most of what is in my closet right now.

My silly goal will to not call a student by their sibling's name. We get a lot of siblings through the buildings, and I always mess up and call them by their older sibling.
