One would think the answer would be yes. We have a standing military to protect from out of country forces. We have laws inside this country.
I know there are laws designed to protect Americans, but does everything have to be a law for the government to get us to do something that is in our best interest to do so? Because it is their job to protect the American People?
This guy on Fox doesn’t think so. He doesn’t think it’s the governments job to protect the people. I wonder what he thinks laws do.
Anyway, I’m beginning to think a lot of Republicans feel the same way as well.
When it comes to mask, personality I think , vaccinated or not, we are going to need to wear masks for sometime. And in the big scheme of things it just isn’t that big of deal. Especially when you consider the alternative.

Do I think it’s the government’s job to make medical choices for individuals? No. Perhaps not to make medical choices, but they could certainly protect the rest of the population by allowing or even requiring public venues to require a vaccine for entrance. You can do what you want; you just shouldn’t be allowed to endanger everyone else while doing it.

I would say that means it is the govt obligation to protect us ..promote the general welfare.. insure domestic tranquility.. right out of the preamble to the constitution. that is the purpose of govt.

I do think it's the role of government to protect people, yes. And I think that the attitude that it isn't can be dangerous. That kind of Survival of the Fittest, figure it out yourself attitude puts folks with disabilities in danger. It becomes a slippery slope.

If it is to stop millions of Americans from potentially joining the over 600,000 Americans that have died from COVID-19 since March of last year then I disagree.

I've never heard of singing the preamble. I remember memorizing it in grade school, and I remember hearing about the declaration has "pursuit of happiness" and the constitution does not.

I'm too old for school house rock.. after my time. I almost am too old as well. It got it start in 1973 when I was 13. Living in rural (very rural) Oklahoma it was on one of the few channels we got. Then in the 90s we were stationed in Italy and it ran on Saturday mornings on the Armed Forces Network which was the only English channel we got. I heard it while my kids were watching Saturday cartoons. Cheerios are strongly associated with the school house rock memories.

Maybe he'll care more when all the numbers come back of how much all the uninsured hospitalizations/lost jobs have cost Americans over the last 18 months? How about just yesterday with the stock market tanking because of fears of another wave?

I think that during a pandemic then guidelines to protect the population and decrease numbers of infections should be done by the government to protect it’s citizens. That includes non invasive measures like lock down, masks, distancing , track and trace etc.
I don’t agree with the current public health policy of deliberately increasing infection (uk) by removing precautions.
Having said that I still believe that vaccination should be a personal choice rather than an enforced one, transparency about adverse reactions allow for informed decisions.
I realise that a certain percentage of people need to be vaccinated though to reach herd immunity.
I hope that a lot of people will choose to get vaccinated as long they don’t have medical problems where a vaccine could cause significant health risks.
What I have found difficult to accept in the past is hearing about babies and children with hard to treat life threatening disease not being allowed to seek treatment outside of the UK . Courts in the UK can forbid the families to go to a medical expert in another country after the doctors here say there is nothing more they can do for the child. I think that is so wrong.

Brian was back at it again this morning. Poor Ainsley(and when did I ever think I would say that?) kept putting her hands to her temple trying to say something(that actually made sense). I think they finally got him to shut up. And why do I know this. Because my DH listens to Fox and it was on this morning while I was getting ready for work. I really hope my neighbors can't hear me talking back to the dang TV!! Our bathroom windows are single pane and you can hear things...
Now I do feel the gov't owes us some protection. But I also think at some point, let nature run it's course. I am finally at the point, I can only take care of me. I will have judgey eyes over my mask but hey, if at this point, you are too stupid to listen to facts about the virus and vaccination, well then dude, that's on you! I do feel for the children who have no say over what their parents choose for them.
