The digital Color Study full collection by Vicky Boutin is on sale at AC Digitals right now for $21.59, until the 25th July. I had planned to buy the collection when it went on sale but now I'm having second thoughts. I never spend that much on a bundle. But I know that I would be paying a lot more than that if it were the actual paper products. This is what you get in the collection: Color Study48 papers and 396 elements (embellshments). I am disappointed that the collection doesn't include the papers that came in the mixed media paper pad - those were what I was looking forward to using most of all. If they were in the digital collection I would already have hit the Add To Cart button. So, enable me, or not!

I’d probably buy it if you like bright colors. It’s about .45 a paper (not including embellishments) so cheaper than ordering physical paper and paying shipping.

Yes! I love this collection. I've already used it on so many pages. Digital would be great. I ended up buying 2 pieces of every paper and some I got 3 pieces. I love it so much.
I saw that the paper is jpeg and the elements are png. Is that how all digital kits are? What is the reasoning behind that?

If you love it, go for it. If you aren't sure, maybe pick up one of the paper packs for $3.19 and see how much you like you using it. You'd still be under the full price if you go back and buy the entire collection before the sale ends. I also would check my scrappy budget but that's cuz I'm a YNAB nerd. I bought some of her physical product and was surprised by how much I enjoyed using it. Her style is a little different than what I typically go for but it ended up being a fun change. I may scoop up some of the digitals to make journaling cards. Thanks for sharing that the collection was out.

Look at the embellishments. VB usually has lots of flowers and foliage and butterflies, and I know you like to use those, AussieMeg.

I can't help you with digital. However I can say I have the 12x12 paper collection, some extra papers and the ephemera coming my way right now in a box of many other goodies. It should be here tomorrow. I can't wait to get it.

I love Vicki's collections. I like the slightly distressed Basic Grey vibe, and the wide selection of embellishments. I find her embellishments also cluster together really nicely. I vote yes!

If you decide to get it and know you will create some amazing layouts.

I've only recently gotten into hybrid scrapbooking, and I love Vicki Boutin! Artbabe, I'm assuming the elements are png so they can be recolored or resized. I suppose it's not really common to want to edit the papers themselves.

I saw that the paper is jpeg and the elements are png. Is that how all digital kits are? What is the reasoning behind that? I think because elements often need a transparent background, so that the paper or whatever underneath can show through, eg. a doily or button holes etc. Even though not everything needs to be transparent, I guess somewhere along the line, designers started making all elements png.

It's so frustrating to find the bits that you really wanted most are not included... that's happened to me before with FYC digital kits, and I find it endlessly annoying. If you're always going to be thinking about what wasn't included it might poison your experience... I don't know.
The price point is really high, but it's not like you can get the same thing for less elsewhere, it's just the ridiculous price they charge, so if you can afford it and you love it I would pick it up on sale and just enjoy it.

Is Color Study really so different than other digital offerings out there? You always seem to have no trouble finding just the right collection for your layouts. They're sharp and colorful and they always make your photos look even more amazing, if that's even possible. How does Color Study compare to the ones you have that you've paid less for?
I was going to go against the grain here and suggest that you don't get it, at least for the moment, because there's always the chance that the price will come down. After thinking about it though, I'm not sure the price will come down by that much, and after awhile they'll just stop offering it altogether.
I think that if you really like it, and you have some money to play with, you should go ahead and get it now. Just be sure you really like it.

I bought the digital one as soon as I found out it was finally available. I haven’t printed any 12x12 paper yet, but 8-9 sheets of embellishments. I have CS paper already but have trouble finding the embellishments, so I’ve been really happy with it already. I went through and reorganized all the embellishments into categories (hearts, flowers, words, etc) which made me even more excited to print things out. I’ve not been disappointed with that purchase for that price.
As an aside, I got an email from AC Digitals. They have three collection bundles on sale for $9.99 apiece. You get three full collections in each of those bundles. I know I’ll be picking up the one with 1 Canoe 2’s Willow, Vicki Boutin’s Wildflowers & Honey, and Shimelle’s Head in the Clouds. I don’t think I’d purchase those first two on my own to be honest. I’m looking at it like I’m getting Head in the Clouds for only $10 and the two other collections are just bonuses.

If you are going to do it, I would do it quickly.....her stuff sells out fast and sadly, AC has just told it's retailers that they have no choice but to do a 10% price increase on everything

It is for this exact reason! Png transparency is crucial for elements. Even with solid shapes like circles, if it wasn’t a png, it would have a white box behind the circle to the dimension of the image.

I probably wouldn't have purchased it unless I saw it in person. I really liked it. It didn't hurt that it was on sale for 20 cents a sheet here at JoAnn's. I'd get the digital version. Lots of options.

While not a digital scrapper, I suggest asking yourself whether you'll regret not getting it after the sale ends &/or are you willing to wait until the next sale to determine if you still want it or would prefer spending that amount on a couple other digital kits. HTH.
