Fascinating as always librarylady. My mother had a dress made from a silk parachute when she was a child. It was pale yellow and a talented aunt embroidered little blue flowers all over it. My mother, who looks her best in pinks, blues and purples, always felt that she looked terrible in it.

I love these dresses. So beautiful and interesting too. Oh, I will have to take a photo of one of my favourite dresses! I'm a teacher librarian and buy lots of dresses from Modcloth. I have a summer dress with maps of the world all over it. A young guy approached me in a department store to tell me how much he loved my dress and "did I make it?" I also have a galaxy dress which I wore when I met Brian Cox after one of shows. (teaching science at the time) He said " I love your dress!" Corinne

I used fabric printed with NYC subway map to make masks during covid. We get so many compliments on them. Great article; tfs.
