And did not go outside and turn around three times and spit. Or curse. Or spit and curse.
And now it has come back to bite me in the butt (the fat fleshy part).
So as I have posted before, we are redoing our kitchen and this week was the BIG one. The window when things were supposed to come together.
We worked all weekend patching, sanding and priming the walls. Yesterday we were down to just a little bit of sanding and priming over the last spots that needed it and I wanted to paint the back splash after we got the old counters taken out.
The plumbing company called just after 8 to confirm our appointment and the guys showed up right on time to cap off the water lines and take out the disposal etc, although they didn't remove the entire sink (in hindsight I should have insisted they do that).
I was so excited that that got done early and said how everything was falling into place. Counters were to be delivered and installed first thing this morning, appliances this afternoon and plumber again on Thursday to install new sink, faucet, and disposal. Boom boom boom. And I said as much.
"I can't believe that everything is going so well, usually what can go wrong will"
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
I put that out there in the universe. I. Am. An. Idiot.
Both my DH and DS told me I had tempted the wrath of the Whatever from high atop the thing. I guess I did. And I did not go outside and turn around three times and spit. Or curse.
I guess the universe took that as a challenge.
I was up early today ready for all the deliveries and installs. When I hadn't heard from counter guy by 10 (he had tole me 9 last week), I called and he said he was down a guy and it would be later this afternoon, but has promised to get it done today.
I was like no big deal, but appliances are scheduled between 1:30 and 5:30, you might have to work around them.
Since we had time I decided to take DS and my dad out to get a real meal since we have had mostly takeout since the end of last week. Of course we had the slowest server. It should not have taken an hour and a half.
So as we get home the appliance truck pulls up (didn't get the 30 minutes heads up phone call) and I have to scramble to get the dog put up.
One dude brings the box with the cooktop up whole another dude started unboxing the refrigerator. I show him where to put the cooktop in the garage where it is supposed to stay until the appliance installer guy comes out.
So I tell him the double oven can go right next to it and he looks at me blankly and askes "what double oven?"
Uh, the double oven I ordered at the same time as the other two things.
So I go in and get my receipt and paperwork while he calls dispatch. Was able to show him exactly what I was supposed to get and when (TODAY).
Apparently the loaders failed to put my oven on the truck. They won't let them do a split delivery so he had to take back my cooktop and refrigerator. I told him the dude better rebox and rewrap my fridge really well because I am not accepting anything with any type of ding on it.
He told me they would actually bring me another new in box refrigerator.
I asked when was it going to be and he said it SHOULD be tomorrow. Better freaking be here! I am dying to have an ice maker that works. And cold water from the door (that stuff went out on our old fridge).
So that is my tale of karma and how my hubris came back to bite me.
