Do you diecut those thin sentiment words and get them on your card without them stretching out?
During the recent Spellbinders sale I bought the Small Die of the Month - December 2019, which is 14 small dies of words like birthday, wishes, thinking, etc. Because the font is so thin, I put adhesive on the back of the cardstock before I cut them out. They cut fine, but when I went to remove the adhesive backing, the words all stretched out when I pulled the backing off. So I tried to cut them out with no adhesive backing and then ran them through my Xyron sticker maker - same problem! It’s also hard to get glue on them. Not happy with this and don’t see myself using them much because of this.
How do you adhere your small diecut words?

1 I glue them with art glitter glue with the super fine point s dot of glue at the top, middle & bottom of each leg of each letter.
2 I have left over sheets from the backs of my 2x3 sprocket photos if I put adhesive backing on them I gently lift the bottoms only about 1/4” of the backing after I diecut. Then I slip in the backing sheet I have, non stick side towards the adhesive. I press the bottom 1/4 firmly on that backing sheet. Then I hold it firm to that 1/4 while I gently remove the rest of the backing. I put it on my card & firmly press the tops of the words while I slip out the 1/4” that’s under it. But mostly I glue them.

handling them with reverse grip tweezers, laying them face down and using a little piece of sponge to dab glue lightly on the back, or blobbing a little glue on a surface and touching the back of the die cut to the glue very carefully? Avoiding 2-way glue because any squidges will stay sticky, and choosing a glue that will dry clear and matte. You can don’t need much glue. Tbh I am clumsy and can barely get a basic word out of a die without messing it up so I tend to avoid super-skinny dies. Too frustrating. In theory adding the adhesive sheets beforehand should help but in practice I think it depends which adhesive, whether it cuts through all the way, and how steady your hands are.

Liquid glue and tweezers. This and stacking 2 or 3 together so there’s stability and dimension.

Liquid glue gives you that little bit of play time to move it around. That along with luck and patience. lol

I usually use a Sakura Quickie glue pen and Scotch Removable Tape. The tape will stabilize the die cut word and it’s clear so you can see through it for placement. It also holds down the word as it dries and pulls off easily.

I imagine a little piece of press n seal might work in a similar way too, if a person had bought that because cardmaking celebrities told a person how well it worked for so many things but a person never really used it much (it's me, I'm a person).

I just watched a Photoplay Say it with Stamps YT video which showed using the negative space of the die cut to position the thin script words. The demo for thin word dies starts at 5:09 minutes: PhotoPlay Say it with Words Demo

I really like this idea. I'll have to try a sponge next time. Thanks!

I haven't tried the specific glue she uses and I've only had bad experiences with tacky glues but this video is pretty cute...

I think I threw it in my cart when it was on sale for a $1 to give it a try. I used it once, didn't like it. Had no idea when it dries, it's tacky. Mind blown. Thanks for sharing the video! Can't wait to try it out.

If I know I will be die cutting a ‘fussy’ word I have double sided adhesive to the paper first. It may take one or two more passes thru my gemini but it is worth it when I can peel and stick the word on my project.

Thanks, joblackford! I might just have to subscribe to her channel. It looks like she has some very useful tips.

Like JavaJones said above, I use the reverse image as a guide. It's also useful if you cut out a title with an emachine and want to get the spacing correct. Just lay down the reverse image and insert your letters. It's basically using the inlay method then removing the outside.

I’m going to try using it as a tacky glue and see how that works. Thanks!

Yesterday I had to adhere a very thin "Birthday Boy" title that I had cut with my Cricut Maker to my dog's birthday layout. I used a dot runner, which several companies make. I applied it with a very light touch while holding the die-cut firmly on my scrap paper. It worked really well, because the dots adhere only where they make contact with paper. There aren't any sticky spaces in between the letters, and nothing ripped. Just another option to try.
