"A federal judge has sided with Norwegian Cruise Line in its case challenging a Florida law prohibiting cruise companies from demanding that passengers show written proof of coronavirus vaccination before they board a ship. Judge Kathleen Williams ruled Sunday Florida’s law banning businesses from requiring customers to be vaccinated is unconstitutional on grounds of free speech. “The First Amendment, applicable to the States through the Fourteenth Amendment, prohibits the enactment of laws ‘abridging the freedom of speech’… Pursuant to this clause, a state ‘has no power to restrict expression because of its message, its ideas, its subject matter, or its content,'” the ruling states. Norwegian initially contended the “vaccine passport” ban, signed into law in May by Gov. Ron DeSantis, jeopardizes the health and safety of passengers and crew and is an unconstitutional infringement on the First Amendment’s free speech guarantee, among other things. Now, the cruise line will be allowed to require vaccinations for its passengers on Florida cruises, allowing the company to sail its first cruise, the Norwegian Gem, from the Sunshine State on Aug. 15." www.wfla.com/news/florida/judge-rules-in-favor-of-norwegian-cruise-line-allows-for-proof-of-vaccination-in-florida/There is nothing I can think of that would get me on a cruise ship right now, but I can imagine it even less if the cruise company can't mandate vaxes or masks. Good on the judge.

Yeah, if some Trump-appointed appeals court judge doesn’t disagree.

I wonder how/if this could impact the mask mandates in Texas and Florida?

I wonder how/if this could impact the mask mandates in Texas and Florida? I think this is part of the reason HISD is going ahead with a mask mandate. They’re either counting on Abbott’s order to be struck down through other challenges, or they’ve had a legal team offer to step up and defend them in court.

It was choice A. Dallas County executive filing lawsuit against Abbott's mask mandate ban
I mentioned elsewhere that Dallas ISD has also chosen to flout Abbott's order and institute a mask ban.

As Trey Crowder said in the link on another thread the GOP Govs reasoning seems to be "We hate BIG GOVERNMENT, so we're going to use our BIG GOVERNMENT to stop the small governments from setting up public safety rules."
