I have a full size Ninja Blender that I love and it has the smoothie cups/blades but I hate that it's very large and takes up a huge amount of counter space. My dd now has to have a protein smoothie every single day and I don't want to lug the big blender in and out of the cabinets 3 times a day and I don't want to leave it on my counter. So I'm in the market for a powerful smoothie blender that is relatively small. Any recommendations??

My ds has a smoothie every single day and I have had this one for about 6 years it works great and isn't huge Hamilton Beach Wave Crusher Blender.
My dd has a smoothie a few times a week and last year for Christmas I bought her the NutriBullet NB50100C Pro 1000 Single Serve Blender. She likes it and tell me it is easy to use and easy to clean.
I'm not sure why I can't link, (I'm at work so that may be why) but hopefully you can google and find what I have posted

It's big and ugly and expensive but you couldn't pry my Vitamix from my cold dead hands.

I have had both a Hamilton beach and a Bella for about 4 years. They are around $30 and while I've had to replace it, at that price it isn't horrible.
But my smoothies are almond milk, frozen fruit, and either chia or flax seed so nothing that is hard to blend.
They are about the size of a large cup

I use an immersion blender. I have one from KitchenAid that works really well. It came with a big cup. The clean up is easy.

I had a NutriBullet that I loved. I got rid of it because I used it to blend hot bulletproof coffee and the hot liquid cracked the plastic cup. That's totally on me, because you aren't supposed to put hot liquid in it. It worked great for my protein shakes with frozen fruit.
I did replace it with the bigger ninja...and I agree that it takes up too much counter space. But, I leave it out because I use daily and I'm lazy.
Although... put my toaster away after each use. Now I'm considering if I can move something from the cabinet the toaster is in and put the blender in there too.

DD has a Nutribullet blender that she uses and she says that it works really well. Clean up is easy—she either drinks out of the glass that she blended the smoothie in, or just adds warm water and gives it a quick pulse.

I make a smoothie every morning of my life and use my NutriBullet. I love that thing. Small, lightweight, and easy to clean. I drink out of the cup. And I put the little blender bottom back in the cupboard after every use.

protein smoothie - does that mean with powder or other stuff that needs real good blending? i got my mom a nutri bullet for xmas. i got it for shakes (needs calories). it is kind of small and has cups you can blend in and take away with you (if you want that). it has a powerful motor.
i also had a hamilton beach wave and that thing, even though it cost less than 30, was the best margarita blender i ever had up until that point. now i have a vitamix and also a margaritaville machine (well, actually 4, oops!) and those two work great as well.
