Do you prefer paper versions or e-book versions? Pros and cons of each?
Thanks, Merilee

I'm a paper book person when it comes to school books. Flipping is much easier for me and I read better on the page.

I prefer paper. For me, it is easier to flip through when you want to find a certain section. And I like finding actual tabs you place on the pages, rather than electronically putting a bookmark on a page. And this one seems silly, but I like being able to physically see how many more pages I need to read. Cons - They are heavy and usually more costly though.

I needed the physical books. I highlight the crap out of stuff. it’s just part of my system for learning and finding the parts I want to use for discussions and papers.

I prefer paper but my DS1 wants digital only. I like highlighting and note taking, DS1 just reads.

For school? Paper, so I can highlight, write notes in margins, etc.

To be honest, maybe both. I definitely recommend a paper copy first to highlight and annotate. If it’s a book you’ll return to though, I also like to have an e-copy to use the search features and have it accessible anywhere you are. But start with a paper boook.

I'm in school right now. I only get paper books. I need to be able to use a highlighter on the portions that I feel are most important.

DD21 prefers paper so she can highlight and take notes on the page but she'll deal with e=books if she has to - she just takes more extensive notes in a notebook

I prefer paper for study for all the reasons mentioned by others in prior posts.

First, congrats! So exciting! When my daughter got her master's, she preferred physical books. She ordered or rented from Chegg.com. Check them out. They were amazing to work with. However, my daughter in med school loves online books. I don't know how she does it but she does. Paper is always for me also.

I much prefer paper for the reasons listed. But you can often find the physical textbooks for free online, which is a huge money saver.
Otherwise, rent. Unless it’s a professional manual or reference book, you’re never going to use it again. My kids always price compare rentals between their campus bookstore, Amazon, and Chegg. I’m not sure about Chegg, but Amazon has an option to tack on one week to the rental for a nominal fee. Both kids always had issues with the fall semester and the end of term going later than the rental period. They often had to tack on that extra week.
